La Opinion hates on Sequeira

He isn't even the worst defender on RSL.

It would take me a while to read this, because he's in Spanish.

But this columnist says that Sequeira is the worst defender in MLS.

The columnist also criticizes other Ticos on Costa Rica's world cup squad.

This is what babel fish says it reads...

In any instance of the life always it has of rules to rules, and also of philosophies to philosophies. Costa Rican trainer, Alexandre Guimaraes, finalized his list of 23 players who will accompany it in the mundialista adventure, nevertheless, whenever an equipment weapon skips the question on if they are all those that are or if they are all those that are. In anyone of the cases there are notes that are due to do, when analyzing to the selection of Costa Rica, that now will arrive at the third Glass of its history with the incentive to inaugurate the World-wide one before the host. The "Guima", in its particular case, left outside the listing to the mediocampista Red Óscar of the Mexican Veracruz and Winston Parks of the Lokomotiv of Russia. The absence of both players was a quite peculiar subject. Only weeks ago, Red it affirmed that if were not summoned to the World-wide one "it would present things rare" on how the calls under the command of Guimaraes occur, and Parks always was reticent to accept the calls to the selection, mainly, under the mandate of the ex- technician Jorge Pinto Luis, adducing whom it preferred to remain fighting by a position with his club, where now is substitute. Anyway, within the common logic there are cases that are due to aim, without wanting to enter the vain world of the speculations. Guimaraes mentioned Douglas Sequeira, that is outstanding to be the worse defender of the MLS; to Mauricio Soli's who plays in the penultimate place of futbol chapín and to Paulo Caesar Wanchope, who returned to his country to play a championship with more pain than glory with the Heredia, where he wrote down only two goals. Perhaps of these three "cuestionables" the one that has more merits at the present time is the "Chope", by its experience and because it has demonstrated that it can be key in his selection, if it is physically put to top. The injuries have attacked it too much lately and they have prevented him that can be developed to their habitual level. Although it crosses its worse moment, that does not discredit the yield that can demonstrate with its selection. The problem is that the technician always said that would take to the players who were in better form, without mattering, their antecedents. But I believe that of Red, who is a regular player in the Mexican league, to the cases of Soli's and Sequeira is much difference. The player of the port jarocho is by much, a player more complete than both elements that were mentioned, that perhaps does not even, play, but will occupy a place in the mundialista list that will be for history. In the case of the mediocampista of the Veracruz there are found versions. One that is not to the the liking of the technician because it did not belong to any institution of weight in Costa Rica before starting off for the foreigner, and another one is that the press magnified its declarations and that passage gave to a conflict that did not have porqué to be. What yes it is certain is that Guimaraes has certain tendency towards the Saprissa, club where it lived its better moments like player and trainer. Within his list, the technician also conserves the base of his mundialistas veterans. The mediocampista Hundredth Walter, the defender Luis Marín and the forward repeat Ronald "the Bullet" Go'mez. Also, at their better moment youthful ones were called two that is shown with great pretensions, as it is the case of Christian Bolaños and Alvaro Saborío, both with supplies of clubs of the foreigner. Also Carlos Hernandez, Leonardo González and Gabriel Badilla arrives in a stage of their life, where they mix a experience gained prematurely with a good individual yield in his equipment. In short, this equipment is a mixture of youth and veteranía. Perhaps all the men of Guimaraes are the indicated ones to go to the World-wide one, until they do not demonstrate the opposite.

May be that's why he was playing up top on Saturday? 😲

That would make this columnist an idiot. Doesn't even know Sequiera's a midfielder. Here's what the pertinent parts say about Sequiera:

"In any way, within common logic there are a few cases that should be pointed out, without entering into the vain world of speculation. Guimaraes identified Douglas Sequiera, who has been described as the worst defender in MLS, Mauricio Solis who plays for the team in second to last place in Guatelmalan football, and Wanchope, who returned to his country to play a season with more pain than glory with Heredia, where he only scored two goals........" blah blah blah, ".......but I believe that in the case of Rojas, who is a regular player in the Mexican league, there is a big difference between him and Solis and Sequiera. Rojas is a much more complete player than the other two......" blah blah blah. :signborin

What does DS play for the Ticos? I haven't paid attention. If he's played defense for them, that is probably what the columnist means. Keep in mind translators struggle to keep the general idea in tact. They do better than a word for word translation but there's a reason why tools like babblefish are free.

I didn't use babblefish - I did the translation. It definitely says defender.

DS might play center back for Costa Rica. RSL's bio has him listed as a "Central Defender, who can also play defensive midfielder."
