Wed. Bradenton Notes

Not Pele · 02-09-2005, 08:45 PM

Here's a few notes of interest from Wednesday's training session.

• The team worked on defense for the majority of Wednesday's training session. Ellinger said he would start the same back four that started in Tuesday's game with D.C.

• Ellinger said he will start Luke K over Brenes at left midfield, but he said that would be the only change.

• Eddie Pope is actually flying to Salt Lake City to meet his wife, who can't wait to get out of NYC, so they can pick out a house. He won't report to Bradenton until Saturday. Clint Mathis should be in town by Thursday's scrimmage, even though he likely won't dress.

• Senad Halilovic is scheduled to arrive in Bradenton on Thursday, as is Michael Lookingland. Neither are expected to play, however.

• While conducting a few interviews at the team's residency, the team's equipment manager (Braden Chandler) showed me one of the team's official jerseys. For the most part, they look identical to the tops from the RSL announcement back in November. It's a maroon top, a lot like Spain's with the Real logo across the front and Yellow adidas stripes on the shoulders. THEY LOOK SHARP.

• I've heard the road unis will be white, white and white.

Thanks for the news!

Maybe Brenes will sit out because Ellinger anticipates him being called up by the Ticos later this year?

Hee, hee! That's a cute story about Mrs Pope & New Jersey. Lavell Edwards liked the Tri State area and I had fun during the 3 months I spent there; but I can see how it's an Acquired Taste.

Thanks for posting. That's all great news. At least, it's great to hear about it. Every bit of news we can get just helps keep us going until April. 😕

It's still a long time to go, so keep posting. :D

Sweet, James; great report!

Home jersey for matches and road jersey for signatures…

After seeing Popesie and Rojas today, I can’t wait to see what our back line is like with them in it. Once we get more of our first team, we should be able to make a better estimation of things.

I'm starting to develop a crush on James. Is that bad?

Keep the reports coming!

Thanks for the update James.
We are all so glad you're there for us (though I'm sure any one of us would cut your throat to take your place)

. I mean . . umm . . . Thanks, Really!

Just so you guys know, if you add up all of James's comments, RSL should have Pope, Mathis, Rojas, Halilovic and Lookingland by Sunday's Columbus Crew match.

That will be a more accurate test of RSL's abilities.

If we were Real Massachusetts or Real San Francisco, I would definitely marry James.
