because they believe everything they read and all they see is 45million tax hike. the Trib has really gone out of its way to make everyone think they're really paying for it.

the media never has an agenda though.

I've been a regular listener of sports talk radio in Utah for close to 20 years. I've never heard a host field one call concerning soccer or MLS.

Needless to say, they don't talk about MLS too much. But 1640 has had Futbol de Primera on for a couple of years now and they take calls.

The local guys even took calls last Friday before Mexico - Venezuela.

This was my response... to Jon S. the moron!
Quote:
I think you prove my point nicely.
If you were actually informed about the stadium issues... you would know exactly what I was talking about!
But since you are not "informed"

The mis-information, grandstanding, and lies, I am referring to are printed in the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News.

Just go to their websites and search soccer stadium and you can see the mis-information and lies for yourself.

1) The attendance numbers that were reported on a Wednesday that did not include the "available" previous Saturday's attendence numbers. Had they reported them the conclusions that were reached by the writer would not have been substantiated.

2) Drawing conclusions as to the viability of soccer in Utah. The numbers to my knowlege were not made public and could be interpretted to any end. and based on the reporting on attendence numbers and the ommisions, it does not bolster my confidence in the interpretations of the numbers as reported.

3) Falsely reporting that RSL is relocating to Phoenix.

4) Mark Crockett's verbal attack on Dave Checketts when he was invited to predsent his proposal to the council. The attack was described as the worst treatment of a guest in it's five year history.

5) The unprofessional remarks by Joe Hatch in reference to RSL Staff showed he has a total lack of respect for the situation and merely wants to see his ame in the paper.

The hostility shown by the SL County Council is bewildering to me considering the fact that Larry Miller was not asked to open his finaces for scrutiny and subsequent leaking to the public when he was asking for public funding for the Delta Center and Jordan Commons and the much touted Raceway that is not using tax dollars but is not paying any tax dollars either. Because like Jordan Commons the raceway is receiving hefty tax breaks.

As for enlightening you on the entire situation? There is not enough room on this thread and frankly, it is not up to me to enlighten you.

It is up to you to keep yourself informed!

Hey Bardguy I have an accounting question for you.... not to get off topic... mind you! 🙂

If a guy (say Larry Miller) is getting a HUGE tax break for something (say Jordan Commons) and he is not paying taxes on anything for many years...

He charges you taxes on purchases at the location... who gets the money? Does LHM keep the money since he is not paying taxes on the property, the business or it's income...

Is he ripping me off...?

I think that's just sales tax, and that's going to apply to everyone no matter who you are or what business you're in. Am I right?

Jon S. get more stupid by the minute. He isn't even perceptive enough to know to whom he is replying. Here's my reply:

"Jon, you might want to pay attention to whom you are replying. One loses all credibility when they're not perceptive enough to notice simple things like to whom they're responding. It was Eric S. that posted about emotional outbursts, not Will R."

I really found the comment about illegal Immigrants a diamond in the rough! 🙄

My Reply to that was;
Quote:
Jon S. There you go again, spouting off about something you really know nothing about!
1) Only Latinos are Illegal Immigrants?
Are you really that ignorant?
2) Only Latinos are interested in soccer?
Have you ever been to a Real Salt Lake match?
If your answer to #2 is no, then "let's face it" the only thing we have to face is that you continue to subject the rest of us to your irrational emotional outbursts.
Do you want to discuss the stadium issue or just make wildly generalized and inaccurate statements about soccer and continue to remove all doubt?

I am pretty much done... he is a moron that is obviously more into the drama than the issue!

Aerick's right. It sounds like the tax break that LHM gets is on property taxes. He stil must collect and pass on to the state taxes on purchases made at his establishments.
