Scratch that. It looks like my card was charged either late last night or early this morning.

Red Bull New York tickets for the August 12, 2006 match at Giants Stadium between the Red Bulls and reigning European club champion FC Barcelona are now on sale.

Tickets are priced at $40,$50,$60 and $75.

Fewer than 20,000 tickets remain to the Aug. 12 game at Rice-Eccles Stadium, after sales were offered first to season-ticket holders only.
I have to believe that RSL is disappointed with this. They've only sold half of the available tickets so far?

Do they think the general public will buy the other 25,000 tickets?

If they don't think they will, they sure aren't flinching. You have to buy tickets to 2 other Real home games in order to get your Real Madrid ticket now. Watch out for those on ebay!

This is going to be ReAL sad if RSL doesn't sell this game out because of their "greedy" ticket strategy...

Rice Eccles for Real Madrid may end up looking like the Rose Bowl in 1996.....the seats behind the goals are completely full but the seats at mid field are half full at best.

C'mon rich people! Get with the program!

This "greedy" ticket strategy isn't all that unusual.......case in point: To get tickets to Karl Malone's jersey retirement game, the infallable Larry Miller required you to buy tickets to two other games (crappy opponents too). And people flocked to it like flies to a turd. At least Uncle Dave is letting people choose which other games they want, not forcing them to watch Columbus or Chivas.

So are they going to make people who are coming in from out of town specifically to see Real Madrid buy tickets to the other games too? Seems like it would piss a lot of people off.
