It's for the stadium: She may be out of office, but former Salt Lake County Mayor Nancy Workman still can lobby her agenda.
In a recent e-mail sent to business owners, the Sandy Chamber of Commerce president extolled the benefits of a Major League Soccer stadium in the suburb.
"The news has given us a wake-up call," Workman wrote about her successor, Peter Corroon, who rejected Real Salt Lake's public-financing proposal for a 20,000-seat soccer stadium and entertainment complex. "We need to do more to support Real Salt Lake."
The Sandy Republican went on to invite chamber members to this weekend's game - at a group discount price - to show support for the team.
"I will be there with my grandkids who love soccer. So talk it up," Workman wrote.
She stopped short of saying the game is "for the kids," her infamous defense for funds funneled to the South Valley Boys and Girls Club.
