Galarcep's week 9 predictions

Game Previews

"Somebody break up Real Salt Lake. John Ellinger's squad is riding a two-game winning streak (which mysteriously began after we put the spotlight on this hapless franchise). The chances for the club's first three-match winning streak ever are solid with an erratic Rapids squad coming to Salt Lake City."

"Colorado Rapids at Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake has found a formula for success, lull teams to sleep then unleash super sub Jeff Cunningham. That approach could work well against a Rapids team that has yet to win two matches in a row and is coming off a ho-hum 1-0 victory against the Galaxy. Look for Real Salt Lake to win a high-scoring affair.

Real Salt Lake 3, Rapids 2"

Finally a little respect. Wouldn't it suck if we went out and laid an egg?!

Personally, I will start giving Ellinger a little more respect if we can pull this one off. I mean, first 3-win streak in RSL history? That's enough to celebrate. Heck, I might even lay off the pessimistic threads for a week.

Given his track record of picking winners this year, you almost want him to pick against you. You have a better chance of winning when he doesn't pick you than when he actually does.

It is good to be getting some respect though.

As a matter of fact, IF RSL doesn't pull off a win tomorrow, then that will leave us with only 1 home win in its last 4. And you know what THAT means don't you?

It means that all of you who voted for a minimum of two home wins during the month of May in order for Ellinger to retain his job should start calling for his head.

I await your bizzare and nonsensical response KnowOneNose.

That a big IF...
I can't assume at this point that RSL will loose to the Rapids. Further, I say that based on the development of youth players, Ellinger is safe no matter what he does in May, April, June this year as long as the younger players on this team are looking stronger. I can say with confidence that that is happening this year. RSL FO is not interested in "short-term" success at the expense of their long-term vision. I think I've said that before.

Since your such a realist, I hope you've made that connection. Only fans and reporters with nothing better to talk about have ever predicted the demise of Ellinger. Only a soccer-child in art class would be short-sighted enough to not see that.

Yea, it doesn't matter if he doesn't win games! That's not why he's here!

End of the season dialogue between Ellinger and Checketts:

Dave: Coach, I'm really disappointed that we only got a 5-22-5 record in our second season.

Ellinger: Yes but the younger players on this team sure are looking stronger!
