Yeah, about 5 years ago, I think. He was an absolute monster in Euro2000. I'm not saying that he's at that same kind of form, but I have to believe that he'll be of value to the Metros.

I am sure he'll do something for the Metros (they need it) but its odd that they added a "high price" Attacking mid when they have Eddie Gaven and MLS MVP Amado Guevara in the same position. I thought they needed help in other areas (like GK and forwards).
Good luck Metros!

part of an interview from football365 (roughly translated from http://www.football365.fr/monde/story_164116.shtml):

------------------------------------------------
Q: What do you think of American Major League Soccer?
Djorkaeff: It's a new experience for me. It's a league which has a good future. They went from 10 to 12 clubs this year. Next season, there will be 14. It's evolving. By taking this step, I hope that there will be some other players who will follow me. The American league is ready to welcome other big players. I've opened a door, I hope that others will follow.
------------------------------------------------

I'm telling you, RSL needs to start sending recruiters to France 😉

Now THAT'S what I wanted to hear. Of course, until the money is better in MLS, it doesn't matter if the door is open. But it's still good to hear.

I guess RSL SC team and fans will be the first to find out just how good this pick up was for the Metros come April 2 in New York. I hope it doesn't get ugly and I'm sure it won't. We shouldn't beat 'em by too much. HA, HA!!!! 😉

GOOOOAAAALREEEEAAAALLL!!!!!!!!!!! 😲 :D 😲

Nothing against Ligue 1, but if we're going to get players from Europe, I'd rather see them come from the Prem, La Liga or Serie A.

why's that? 99% of the good French players in those leagues came from Ligue 1 to begin with 🙂 Djorkaeff, for example, who is coming from the Premiership...

I'll grant you that. Look no further than Arsenal.

However, I guess my point is that as soon as the French players get good, they jet to leagues in other countries: i.e.; Serie A, La Liga, the Prem.

An interesting hypothetical question: If the "door" were open, and the best $$ in the world were in MLS, would we want the best players in the world to come play here, killing the developmental benefit that MLS has been for our National team, etc.?
