Why the silence? Well, for some odd reason Uncle Dave doesn't believe a bloody thing he hears from those folks... Oh, and the stadium location in Sandy is a poor location. I think it is worth it to explore other offers and possibly find a decent location for the stadium.

RSL and its supporters are simply losing their patience over this thing. As Dave said in the halftime interview Friday night, it was Sandy City that first came up with the plan to put a stadium at 94th & State and fund infrastructure and (partly) land with bonds to be paid back with hotel taxes. A couple of time this idea has been slapped down by the county council.

Last year it was Salt Lake City that made the proposal to essentially donate a block of downtown land to RSL and to pay for the land with RDA funds. That idea got slapped down by the state legislature.

All this has just wasted precious time and that time is running out. I think the team fears that this is just another proposal that will just be voted down again.

Why the silence? Because they've already told Sandy to take a hike. They've already said "Don't waste your time on us" and Dave has said he wouldn't work with these people anymore. Is he wrong to feel like they're his time and focusing his energy in the wrong place? No, he's spot-on. He's played the game their way for an entire year. They've proven what they're made of and he's gotten the message loud and clear.

Soon the "whining" will be coming from the opposite direction when Salt Lake County realizes that they've just kicked themselves in the rear.

with that being said...if Corroon lets RSL know that he is on board, RSL will reopen the conversation...stupid not to...until he states that he likes, and will vote for...this new proposal, I do not think RSL will say anything..."once bitten, twice shy" and all.

Tuesday's vote by the Salt Lake County Council against public funding of a soccer stadium in Sandy should not be interpreted as a vote against REAL Salt Lake, the team.

It's not surprising that the soccer club's executives are "disappointed" at the decision, and it's understandable that talk is surfacing about possibly moving the team to another state. From a business perspective, they would be remiss not to explore their options.

Still, KSL encourages them to focus on finding a way to stay in Utah.
For example, the Utah State Fairpark option being pushed by Mayor Rocky Anderson deserves full, unbiased evaluation. And who knows what ideas might surface through candid public discussion rather than backroom wheeling and dealing.

The fan base REAL executives touted in bringing the team here in the first place hasn't changed and is likely to grow. Soccer remains the world's most popular sport and is consistently gaining popularity in the United States. As evidence, look at the attention given recent World Cup games. And Utah soccer fans have demonstrated their support for the team through their purchase of tickets.

In KSL's view, it is important to find a way to keep REAL Salt Lake in Utah. The franchise is a visible asset that benefits the entire state.

I'm sure this has been mentioned in the past, but what's the deal with almost all the negative news against Real being "reported" (I use the term loosely) by SLTRIB? I can't believe how one sided their being. Shouldn't a reporting agency be unbiased?

It should be unbiased... but both newspapers have been showing a great deal of bia on this issue. Need proof? Take a look at the tone of the articles they publish, thier editorials and lack of letters to the editor that support the stadium.
