RSL bidding for WCQ?

RSL bidding for US - Ticos?

RSL is supposedly bidding for US - Ticos?

FIFA is now cool, or so I understand, with Field Turf. But they aren't going to like gridiron lines.

I'd love to see this happen. But I suspect that Columbus or Foxboro will get the nod.

Edit to put in a goofy idea: The best atmosphere I ever saw at a game was not in Spain or in southern California....it was in Portland's baseball stadium in 1997, in a WCQ against Costa Rica.

Being in Sam's Army's section when Ramos scored was like being next to the speaker at a Who concert.

Maybe the WCQ could be in Franklin Covey?

I'm not convinced, but this could happen. I agree the grid lines are a problem, and with field turf they're sewn in so muting is a complicated process. Since the game's in June (well in front of Utes football season), I wonder if USSF/RSL would be willing to sod the field for the game? It's been done successfully in several places (Seattle, New Jersey) but it's expensive and not perfect (seams between pieces of sod).

But if the gate is promising and Arena likes the idea, it would give the USSF a western option for qualifiers while supporting a new MLS team. That would be quite a doubleheader.

Don't want to get ahead of myself, but any Loyalists in Sam's Army? Come to think of it, that would be ironic.

I have a Sam's Army Polo shirt (perfect for annoying Tri fans at work), and a Sam's Army keychain. I'm pretty sure I was at the first appearance of Sam's Army west of the Appalachians.

But I'm still not sure if I'm Enlisted in Sam's Army.

As long as you show up with an American flag, a loud voice (or a big drum) and some face paint, then you're cool.

I understand this would be a boon for RSL and Salt Lake... I am not opposed to Sunday games... the Jazz do it!
But has it not been stated unequivically that there will be NO Home games scheduled on Sunday!

I want this game.... I think it would be amazing but what about attendance and what are the thoughts of people that have paid out for season tickets with the understanding there will be no sunday games...

My thoughts are let's do it!
I suppose I am being the devil's advocate but I am curious as to what other people think!

The date they have talked about is a Dallas match, so it would be on June 3, a Friday. But since they want a doubleheader, they would move it to June 4, a Saturday.

No Sunday game. 🙂

👍

WCQ? USMNT? Double-header? Ooooooh man, oh manohmanohmanohman!

I remember the double-header with the USWNT and the BLiTZZ. That was a truly great day.

Double soccer, and many of your favorite stars on one team. Could life get any better than that? I don't think so.

A WCQ would be a great draw. If not now, once a Soccer specific stadium is in place. I am a Loyalist and a member of Sam's Army. I like how Sam's Army tracks fan caps. (How many times you have attended a MNT game.) I have two caps and I am definitely up to getting more...

Sweeeeeeet!!!!!!

Do you reallly think they would play a WCQ on sports turf or whatever it is called? I don't think they would, plus I read somewhere that Arena doesn't like to play WCQ on the west side of the USA. He thinks it is not adventagous for his squad. But hopefully I'm wrong on this!!!!

GO USmNT!!!!!!
