Comcast SportsNet will be broadcasting the DC United vs. Real Madrid friendly from Seattle's Qwest Field. The match will be on at 11:00pm, Philly time, this Wednesday night.

Don't know if this is available in Utah. Probably an olive leaf for the DC United Supporters back home...

Anyone with the Sports Pack on DirecTV should be able to watch the match on channel 629. It isn't technically a league match of any type, so I don't think it will be blacked out. Comcast and Dish have similar sports tiers, but YMMV since I'm not as familiar with them.

BTW, KSL will be broadcasting the RSL-RM match here in Utah. No word on regional or national broadcasts.

DC United is springing $35,000 to televise their match locally.

HI evrybody,

Can you tell me why Seattle city can't create it's own soccer club?? Does they get one yet? Why not create a club now to be the 7th team in the west side in MLS???

Sometimes in can't understand how sport works in USA 😇
And i can't understand why Salt Lake can't keep it's Soccer team if supporter wants to see more soccer in Utah!

Let's GO Real !!! Go for the 2006 playoffs !!!
greetings from France to evrybody
A french supporter
Hervé

Bienvenu to our board!

Seattle has a team but its a First Division team (Seattle Sounders). They won the First Division Cup last year. One of their players is the brother to an RSL defender. Another one of their players used to play for RSL. Most likely they lack capital to make the leap to MLS.

MLS would like to be in Seattle, but only in the right facility with the right owners.

The MLS business model is still very challenging. It is improving but still challenging. You must have a very strong stomach and deep pockets, if you intend to operate an MLS club for the long haul.

Some people believe that the fact that the Seattle Sounders are "presenting" the DC United/Real Madrid match in Seattle that they are positioning themselves to become an MLS team.

However it appears that won't happen because MLS has stated that it desires to be at 16 teams, a goal it aims to reach in 2010.

We currently have 12.

Toronto makes 13
Philadelphia / South Joisey makes 14
Garber mentioned STL or Cleveland will happen in 2008 : That's 15
Garber also mentioned another NYC team : That's 16.

But then again. Anything could happen in the next couple of years. RSL could move to Seattle!

The Seattle Sounders owner has said that although he doesn't want to bid on a new MLS franchise, he is open to bringing a franchise to Seattle if the economic terms are right.

Whether or not RSL stays in Utah depends on the team's owner. He has stipulated that he needs his own stadium to be profitable and has had a hard time getting public funding for the stadium infrastructure.

By the way, which side do you support in Ligue 1? Bordeaux?

Hi, Arelius

Thanks a lot for your answer. I can know understand what's happenss here in MLS ...
Hoping that Real Salt Lake can made 1 or 2 seasons more before going to Seattle ... And may be win the playoffs? ( on the RSL name ! )

Well in fact in French Ligue 1, I support Marseille, the city were i was born.
But I also like Lyon ( 5 times Champions in 5 championships !!!!! ) Bordeaux, Saint Etienne, and this year two news teams who come up from ligue 2 : Valenciennes and Lorient.

Do you fellow the french Ligue 1?
Bordeaux is your favorite team?
This season they will play the european champions league, hoping they can get to the playoffs ... I will support tham in this competition.

Many thanks yet for your answer, and be sure I'll be sad if RSL have to leave MLS a day, as did the EarthQuakes this year ... I have less feeling for Dynamo's Houston ...
And finnaly I hope a MLS cup final with DC United and RSL, and if no , FC Dallas, the best teams in regular season ...
Last year, I laughed !!!! Galaxy wins !!! After being only 4th in west ... too badddd... It should be better for MLS a final four with the 4 best teams conferences mixed, for a real Champion !!!!... ( and Real Salt Lake Champion too 🕺 ) With that Galaxy weren't able to win because not in the 4 best teams last year... do you understand my point of view?
Many thanks for reading me.

See you soon
Many thanks
Greetings from France
Hervé

Absolutely. We get many Ligue 1 games broadcast to us here in the U.S.

I was sorry to see Zidane have to leave the World Cup final the way he did and to see France lose the final match on penalty kicks. Regardless, I was happy that France was finally able to snap out of the doldrums that it suffered in Japan/Korea ’02 and Euro ’04.

What do you think about Platini for FIFA president? Do you think Djorkaeff will stay at NY? Ribéry had a wonderful World Cup. How do the French feel about Trézéguet since he is actually from Argentina? Who are your favorite French footballers? Some of mine are:
Cantona
Zinedine
Henry
Wiltord
Vieira

I thought perhaps you supported Bordeaux because, if I’m not mistaken, its one of the closest Ligue 1 clubs to the city in which you live.

Hopefully you were able to see RSL’s recent victory over DC United.

I agree with you, Hervé, about the playoff system here. It’s a little flawed but it will get more and more competitive as more teams are added to the league.

À la prochaine.

Hi, Good evening Arelius

You're right !!! Bordeaux is the nearest Ligue 1 team from my city. It's only at 120 kilometers from here. 1 Hour by the motorway, same time by train. And, you know, i'm lucky, because i'm just at 25 km from the wellknow (around the wolrd) city of Cognac :wine: Bordeaux and Cognac, we ever know whats drink here ;-)

Well, it was sad, you're right, for Z. Zidane in the world cup final ! But he receives insults from the italian player... Zidane get no excuses for doing that, but i can understand what he did ...
And i'm not sure if Ziadene where there, France could win the Penalty kicks at the end ... But it's so great to have play the final !!! Players deserves it !!! I don"t know if Italy deserves the title, but they win, and they are the Champions, Congratulations !

Ribery was one of the best player in the french team.
But now there is a problem with him as he still get 4 years's contract with Marseille, and last week he said, : " I gonna play for Marseille this season ! "
But yesteday , he said " I want to leave Marseille and go for a most prestigious club and play for the Champion's league" So big trouble with this.
Marseille's supporters are angry ! They think Ribery want just get more money ! They prefere a player with the club's love ! Proud to wear the jersey ! It is an important valor ! but nowarsdays, Money make the law, and the best players goes in the richest teams....

For Michel Platini, he wants to be the UEFA president ( European soccer association ). But I think he won't be elected. Because the actual président, is well appreciate, and Platini is new for this job. it's a great man, but i think it won't be enough fo his to get presidence.

For Trezeguet, I thing nobody cares. You know, in national French team there's many origins. many from antilles, Zidane from Algéria, Some other from Africa ... so people use to see and love a multi ethnic team. And it's like french poeple, multi origins. Like USA too.

In France my prefere footballers are : Zidane, Henry, Barthez, Coupet, Ribery, Deschamps, Viera, makelele, Abidal, Boumsong, Carasso, lizarazu, Djorkaeff, micout, Anelka, Giully, papin, and i forgot many many more !

For Youri , i don't know about his fellowing season in NY... two month ago he was in France cause he wrote a book about his career. But i Hope he could back soon, and get to the playoffs an other time !!!

I didn't know you were able to see french matchs...

And now this is for you the results of the 1st day in the new 2006/07 french Ligue 1 Championship

05/08/2006 Auxerre 1-1 Valenciennes
05/08/2006 Saint-Etienne 1-2 Sochaux
05/08/2006 Paris SG 2-3 Lorient
05/08/2006 Nancy 1-0 Monaco
05/08/2006 Lens 1-0 Troyes
05/08/2006 Le Mans 1-0 Nice
05/08/2006 Bordeaux 2-0 Toulouse
05/08/2006 Rennes 1-2 Lille

Yesteday:
04/08/2006 Nantes 1-3 Lyon

Tomorrow :

06/08/2006 Sedan - Marseille

Many thanks for your answer, i'm very happy to talk Soccer with you !!!

i hope see you soon here.
I'm sorry if it's not in the topic you were talk about on RSL

I gonna try to see about the all star game ...
Thanks for all
See you soon
Gretings from France
