as pissed as I am about the Trey incident and the tie...

Talley, Williams and the Chivas distance goal all should be considered for goal of the week. wow, some great goals.

back to being pissed again.

The 'about' page of the official RSL web site has not been updated in about 2 years. http://real.saltlake.mlsnet.com/MLS/rsl/about/

Someone should ask the Sr. Director of Marketing to look into that, instead of getting into confrontations with the fans.

On the plus side, the FO will never again be able to ask groups of fans to tone down their language.

I know you've all been waiting on pins and needles......here's my game report:

- First off, what's up with the ticket Nazis at Rice Eccles all of a sudden? Not only did they check my ticket at the portal, but they actually came around to everyone in my section once during each half checking tickets. Note to whoever made that call: While it's not honest to buy a cheap ticket and move to expensive seats, at least those people are coming to games. When you've got a better product (and there's demand to see it), then we can start worrying about seat assingments. But for now, call off the Rice Eccles SS.

- Isn't it amazing how a committment to shooting more leads to more goals? The only person who should not be shooting is Harris. The committment to taking shots led to 3 goals in the run of play & 3 potential GOTW candidates. This game should've been 5-3 at least, but I like where the offense is going.

- Talley is the bomb diggity. When he got carted off they were working on him right in front of me.....his leg did not look normal. There were bumps where there shouldn't have been. I was amazed he could come back on, and then that goal? Sick. I love how it took the crowd 5 seconds to start celebrating we were all so shocked.

- Our defense needs to get their heads right obviously. The goal at 1:15 and the goal at 94:30 are symptoms of the same disease. Question: Did Douglas really play big minutes in the World Cup less than 1 month ago? And, has anyone else noticed the common thread - twice we've given up stoppage time goals up the middle, and both times Besagno was our central defender.

- The difference between this game and the Dallas game......this one was much more entertaining prior to our collapse in the 94th. I went with a soccer virgin last night - after the game she told me she's buying season tickets if the team stays. Personally I don't care if we win or lose any more, I'm just glad we played entertaining soccer.

That's funny -- my dad said the same exact thing to me on the way home last night.

Must be an indication of just how cynical we've all become, haha.

He was on the pitch, but both times it was the veteran that made the error. A midfielder should have picked up Suarez. Besagno was marking Palencia out of the play. Novak made an aggressive play and got unlucky on a 50-50 ball. Sequeira needed to keep his feet. Forko got beat to the back post by Suarez.

Besagno was at fault on the first goal last night.

It was a result of Sequiera's poor clearance that led to that goal. Yes, Besagno was marking Razov, but the pass by Palencia to Razov was off that poor clearance.

And, I don't know what Sequiera was doing on that last goal, he dropped to his a** like it was on fire, instead of challenging Marsch.

RSL came onto the plastic pitch at the beginning of the match like they had just woke up from a nap. It took them 15 minutes before they woke up and they played well until the last few minutes of the game. I enjoyed the game, but it was a downer at the end.

The first goal was Besagno fault... but Douglas gave up those last two goals... did close the space on the second goal and went sliding in on the third instead of holding his ground. Besagno played better then Douglas did yesterday.

True, but he can't get spun on like that. Except for that brain fart, I thought Nik played very well. Even on the last goal, he was marking Palencia out of the play.

He doesn't really look like a teenager out there.

The good---

Novak, after looking a little shaky early played out of his mind. Besagno was a gem. For a 17 year old to play like that against attackers of that caliber is amazing to me. The tackle he made near the end of the first half was absolutely clinical. We had more than enough offense to win this game. We blew a fair number of golden opportunities, but kept on the attack. I like the commitment of Novak and Forko to attack the wing, and it was clearly effective last night.

The bad---
What can I say...when you give up goals that early in the game, it speaks to pre-match preparation. We continue to look a little discombobulated tactically until 15 minutes in. Not every game, but it's a consistent pattern. Douglas...wow, a player with his experience ought not to give away that many dangerous balls with poor touches and poor choices; and while we're on the subject, will somebody strap him to a chair and force him to watch the end of the Austrailia v. Italy match ad infinitum? Stay on your feet!!! That was one of the worst attempted slide tackles I've seen all year.
End of game tactics...get everybody on the same page!!! If you're going to play posession keep away, do so. If you're going to press for the insurance goal, I shouldn't see 4 guys running flat with their defensive line when the ball is in the midfield...DON'T OVERCOMMIT PLAYERS UP FRONT. Cover yourselves defensively, and if you see that you are overcommitted, don't cough up the ball in the midfield.

Substitutions...Joey Worthen at the end of the game for Andy Williams? Well, it's a choice. In all fairness, Joey showed some good play, but he also showed some naive play. He showed some great hustle, some good defensive picks, but also some poor marking that left Forko with 2 guys to mark, and needs to take better care of the ball in transition.
