There's a group of about 5 guys with drums in row 1 of section W15.......they're not as into it as the Loyalists and RCB, but they gave Freddy and the ref all they could handle.
Excellent!

And if I'm not mistaken weren't these guys using a chant that involved the word bulls*** after some of the more questionable calls?

I didn't hear that but I believe you. Most of the time they were drowned out by boos on the bad calls so I couldn't hear. Mostly they chanted overrated as Freddy launched yet another shot into orbit.

I think the PK had as much to do with 2 no-calls in the box in the previous 3 minutes (Watson getting dropped and Worthen getting pushed down on a ball that was going over his head). In fact, I looked at the ref when the Worthen foul happened - he put the whistle in his mouth and took a deep breath, then changed his mind. I suspect the Klein foul was the straw that broke the camel's back.

That was my thought too. Wilson definitely tripped Klien. Klien had played the ball too far from him and he did a great job of selling it. It seemed like the ref had to call it as he had let the Worthen play go. But he couldn't let two plays go uncalled.

And at the end of the night, I still thought the ref had an awful game. No consistency in his calls and he basically decided the game, albeit in our favor.

It really was amazing. It was the most fun I've had at an RSL game this year. The crowd came alive at about the 80th minute, and then the game completely changed. The energy was unbelievable.

I remember when it first started we were doing a chant that I'd never seen anyone clap along with, and I looked over at the North side and that's exactly what they were doing. And then some punk-@$$ doophus came over and started throwing mini soccer balls into the crowd right where they were clapping along, and of course everyone fell all over themselves trying to get their hands on one. And I thought, "oh well, that's it for that. It was fun while it lasted."

But oddly enough, the next chant, they joined in as well. And then we got our first penalty kick, and it was all over from there. DC didn't have a chance after that.

That may have been the most electric the crowd has been since May of last year? I couldn't believe how excited and loud it was. I brought my sister and her husband for their first game and they are really considering season tickets for next year. They had so much fun. Definitely a great game to bring some newbies to.

I also brought along a newbie. I had won free tickets (well ok, my mom did) And I brought a friend who thought soccer was boring but came anyway to hang out with me and my family. She LOVED it. She was so excited after to go congratulate the players she was practically sprinting to to south end of the stadium. She also wants a season ticket, I doubt she can afford them but I'm sure she'll make it to a few games this year, and next. It was an amazing game and the most fun to watch that I've ever been to. Except maybe the national game last year against Costa Rica. :dancing: :signrocko :dancing:

I totally agree. It disrupted the crowd, and i was mad because we had the crowd on our side for once. And what was it dsirupted for? 30 cent freebies. Next time wait until the crowd starts to die down, then throw that junk.

Real Salt Lake Coach John Ellinger was cited by MLS for comments he made to the sideline official during his club's 2-1 victory over United last Saturday.

According to a Competition Incident Report obtained by The Washington Post, Ellinger was upset with United's goal in the 36th minute and told official Brian Hall , "I don't know what [United President] Kevin Payne has on you guys. . . . It must be dirty pictures."
