7/31 News Can't find the normal Aurelius thread for this, so I thought I'd post it and let him or whomever else add to it.
The Sandy City Journal had an interesting article in it about the stadium debacle. I could only find it in PDF. You can read it here: http://www.valleyjournals.com/onlineEd/SJ/SJ1/SJ_1.pdf It's mostly regurgitated information, but it had some quotes in there from Dolan, Checketts and others that I hadn't heard before that seem to shed new light on a couple of the issues. __________________

Tom Dolan just strikes as yet another politician with the “what’s in it for ME” attitude. My perception is that he’s not interested in soccer, but in all the commercial activity a stadium would stimulate. He’s crying out about how the council is all “anti-Sandy” without really seeming to care if the team ends up leaving the state.
While I suspect something may be going on now secretly behind the scenes involving a stadium that is completely privately funded, I feel that if a new project were announced or propsed that involved using public dollars someplace other than Sandy (whether it is downtown, fairpark, North Salt Lake, or elsewhere) he would be one of the loudest critics rallying against the project for the “public good”. | |||||
