I haven't confirmed it yet but I believe the Rapids will set a record this year for most wednesday night games in one season.

Isn't the new Rapids' Rumpus Room located at the site of the old airport? In other words, not down the street from Denver's biggest shopping mall and in one of Denver's richest suburbs?

Take those with several grains of salt.

For example:
Quote:
If the Rapids win the MLS Cup, they will be the first team to do so coming from a state whose two Senators are from different political parties (Allard-R, Salazar-D). How's THAT for an obscure stat?

Didn't Chicago win it in 2000? In 2000 Illinois' senators were Richard Durbin (D) and Peter G. Fitzgerald (R). That is just of the top of my head, the same probably goes for 2003.

Sorry for exposing my political geekery, but I couldn't let that "obscure fact" go. Maybe he meant "only state that CURRENTLY has senators of different parties". Or something.

My head hit the keyboard when I fell asleep remembering KC's win in 2000 over the Fire. The Fire won in '98.

fixed your post. Wednesday nights just get down right ugly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that KSE decides to cash in on their rish uncle enough to double their marketing budget next year and spend $40 on marketing.

The new stadium is going in to Commerice City. I think the exact spot it's going in to is actually the old Rocky Mountain Arsenal land. The border between that and the old Stapleton is pretty close to there. And no it's not the richest suburb by far. Commerce City's a good place to go for crack whores. But that image may chance as the stadium is part of a lot of redevelopment on the old Stapleton & the old Rocky Mtn Arsenal. Plus like Denver and Aurora, Commerice City has annexed a ton of land off to the NE and will likely pick up a lot of residential and commerical development over the next couple of decades. 30% of the new jobs in the new jobs in the metro are expected to go in out by the airport. That's the nice thing about being the biggest town in Kansas, there's plenty of prairie land to sprawl out onto.

And there is the new name. Rapids is one of the worst names in MLS.
