Rep means "reputation." You can give out reputation to any post you want by clicking the little checkmark in the upper right-hand corner. It will ask if you are giving it good rep or bad rep, and a comment. Make sure to sign your comments if you want anyone to know who the rep is coming from. I usually give out rep if a post impresses me, or makes me laugh, or breaks some news... but to each his own repping!

Once you get more rep, your reputation will go up. See the little green box by your name? That's your rep. After you get enough rep you will get another little green box (see Deuce), and so forth.
