Soccer video games

I am looking for a good Playstation 2 Soccer game. Which ones are the best? Is the MLS game any good and is it out yet, so that I may start perfecting my role as arm chair General Manager and bring in the great young talent?
I'm interested in game play and depth of dynasty (i.e. build a roster and compete for many seasons.) The last one I played was for the World cup but I didn't like the fact that I couldn't develop a roster over time.
Thanks in advance, and no I haven't gotten any work done today...

From what I've heard, "Winning 11" from Konami is not only the best game out there, but exactly what you're looking for. Version 8 has just been released this month. Have fun!

yes, you are looking for Winning Eleven 8 from Konami. there is a Master League mode which lets you play as a team through 15 seasons i beleive, watch players develope and pick up new ones. lots of fun, im in my 12th season now in Winning Eleven 7 and as soon as my tax return gets here and I get my DVD player for my comp I am picking up WE8.

beats the hell outta the FIFA series. Winnig Eleven didnt have the EPL contracts but they do for the Italian Serie A, good news is though there are already some AWESOME patched out the will add current EPL teams and rosters in it 😉

let me know if you have any specific questions

Winning Eleven 8 is definitely the best soccer game out there. It has a pretty robust editing feature, as well. Check out the RSL kits I created:

I received my tax return today so next week i'll be boosting up my girlfriends performance and will get WE8. if you havnt made an MLS league maybe we could both work on it and put it out for the public 🙂

That guy looks really sad! Do the players get dumped by their girlfriends or something in this game?

Good one! I think he's more comtemplative--I had them set up to play against themselves (wearing home & away kits). I think the cosmic rift that caused this match made him wonder about the larger questions of life (Who am I? Why am I playing soccer against myself? Is that a metaphor for life? Are my shoes tied?).

Hiddnfox--there's thread on pesfan.com with someone creating an MLS save. He's got some good looking stuff done so far and is nearing completion. I'll let you know when he finishes it. Too bad we can't play on Xbox Live this year...
