Of the six teams, we still have the Wiz to complete but we've won every series except for New York.

How cool is that? After not even winning a game on the road last year, we'll (hopefully) take 5 of the 6 season series from the East this year. I'm completely amazed at how competitive the West is this year.

I still think the NE Revs are the biggest disappointments so far. They have so much talent, but they can't click.

Unless you're implying that they are getting an expansion team, don't even say that! Don't even think that. Not even in jest. :jawdrop:

That's something that has made me wonder recently...how good is DC really?

They play each team in the east FOUR TIMES. Considering that Rock Bottom Salt Lake is Kicking @$$ and taking names in the eastern conference, how good is DC really? Anybody care enough to compare their season vs. West and vs. East and see what their record is...how many points have they taken from a piss poor eastern conference vs. how many they've gotten from the much tougher western conference.

Everyone talks (especially DC fans) like we need to hand DC the trophy now, but is that really the case?

dc united has taken 35 of a possible 45 points (77.77% in 15 games) against eastern teams they have played this year. they have taken 16 of a possible 33 points (48.48%, 11 games) from western teams they have played this year.

this makes it PLAINLY obvious how inferior the east is this year. they have gotten less than half of their possible points from the western teams they have played. if they were a western conference team they would have 37 points ((.7777 x 33 possible points) + (.4848 x 45 possible points)). with their current record they should get another 12 points from their remaining eastern (.7777 x 15 possible points) games and 2 points (not possible) from their remaining western (.4848 x 3), they will end up with 63-66 points total (rounding of course).

Let me see if I understand you correctly. If DC was playing in the west they would have likely less points than Dallas and Houston? Probably, anyway? So, when it comes down to it, it's just as likely for any western team to take the cup as it is for their vaunted boots?

Close to a statistically significant difference in DC United's performance against Eastern Conference teams compared to performance against Western Conference teams.

Thing is, it is hard to infer from this that it is due to the Eastern Conference somehow being of worse overall quality. It is possible that DC United has a greater difference in the motivation they bring to within-conference games versus out of conference games.
