Woohoo Champions League is back! Here's a run down of Matchday 1:

Group A:

Barcelona 5-0 Levski Sofia
Chelsea 2-0 Werder Bremen

Group B:

Bayern Munich 4-0 Spartak Moscow
Sporting Lisbon 1-0 Inter Milan

Group C:

Galatasaray 0-0 Bordeaux
PSV Eindhoven 0-0 Liverpool

Group D:

Olympiakos 2-4 Valencia
AS Roma 4-0 Shaktar Donetsk

Group E:

Dynamo Kiev 1-4 Steaua Bucuresti
Lyon 2-0 Real Madrid

Group F:

FC Copenhagen 0-0 Benfica
Manchester Utd 3-2 Celtic


My thoughts:

Barca just able to edge out Levski Sofia... they have to be the favorites again.

Inter loses to Sporting Lisbon - focusing only on the Scudetto?

Wow what world class offenses, Group C. The PSV - Liverpool match was among the most boring I've ever seen.

My Roma get all four goals in a matter of like 15 minutes.

Lyon upsets Real Salt Lake Jr. - what is happening in Madrid??

I'm secretly cheering for FC Cop because it's their first time in Champions League and my brother who lived in Copenhagen said they always sucked when he was there. Also the Man Utd - Celtic match was the opposite of the PSV - L'pool match. Very very entertaining.

Yep. They were at home and favored. They also beat them last year.

I'm pullling for Lyon to win it all this year. But as long as it's not Chelsea, I'll be happy.

It's just that Chelsea are a goliath, at least in terms of wage and transfer budgets, compared to the other teams. Gotta root for the underdogs.
