Why is Fiddlers even the official (whatever it is) if it doesnt show the away games. I can understand the U games but I would think the RSL would get priority. And frankly the pasta company cant handle the load.
From what I heard there was a major line out the door at the pasta company. Was there that many U fans at fiddlers?

As a season ticket holder to Ute pointy-ball and RSL and a Dish subscriber, it was somewhat a frustrating night. A short background on the Utes is that most of the MWC games are being televised by some station called mtn that only shows MWC events and is partially owned by Comcast and for the most part is available only on a small number of cable systems in the MWC areas. Because it shows only games from one conference and there is not siginificant interest outside the MWC areas, and comcast wants unreasonable money from other companies it is totally unavailble on any satelite system, and games aren't available at all in most parts of the country, not even on GamePlan. The Ute fan board on its front page had a list of "places tio see the game" which included Fiddlers Elbow. Meanwhile Dish in its listings showed it would have the Direct Kick (which I can't afford) broadcast on the RSL game delayed at 9PM (mainly so it can show a gazillioin college pointy ball games from all over the country, excluding the Ute game) and didn't list the RSL game on Fox Network at all. (Memo to self, have to fire off a letter to Dish asking why the hell they aren't consistent about picking up all the RSL matches on Fox. Anyway, I decided to give up watching the Utes deciding I wanted to watch my beloved RSL and arrived at Fiddlers shortly after 6PM to find that there was a line going out the entrance with a mixture of fans in Ute and RSL apparel. I figured getting a seat would be unlikely so I hightailed it down to join our rowdy comrades in the RCB down at the Republican. Arrived to find a few other RSL fans but no RCB in sight. But the Republican has Dish and indeed when searching for the match on the guide, it listed the RSL game on Direct Kick as starting a 9PM. I eventually went home and alternated listening to the Ute and RSL games on the radio. Well, one of the teams did quite well. Weddle likely has a very promising career on the horizon (3 interceptions last night, 2 for TDs.) RSL got in a hole early but kept their composure and avoided a repeat of what happened at the Red Bulls. Next few matches are very big now. Probably need to win all 3 to make it into post season play. Last edited by rabble-rabble : 09-24-2006 at 07:30 AM.

And it was on the big screen at SLP&P... There were many fans not able to get seats until after half time. The people i was sitting with left at halftime so I was able to have a dad and his two kids and Praxis and his wife come join me. At the end of it all I felt like I should have stayed at home and watched it on Direct Kick... however I did enjoy being around other fans.

If anyone and EVERYONE that was upset about the situation last night at Fidlers would like to complain...here is their website...
Fiddler's Elbow/Pizza & Pasta To me...its simple. If you are the official RSL watch place and not the official U of U pointy ball (nothing against them...) place....if there is a conflict you have to go with RSL. No question about it. There are plenty of other places to go watch football for Kreis' sake. RSL advertises to their fans that this is the place to go to watch the games. We have put up with their mediocre food and poor service all season and get crapped on the moment pointyball starts. I say do not go there again. Even for a regular dinner out.... And next year they will not be the official place. So if anyone has any good ideas speak now. I personally think we should all get together and open a fan owned futbol pub.....anyone in????

Previously The Loyalists went to Iggys and switched when FE inked the deal with RSL and the FO asked us to go there instead.

While some people have mixed feeling about food and service at Iggy's they get big kudos for being the ONLY place in the valley who would give us a room last year during the NCAA final four.
I have a feeling were they still our place to go the soccer match would have been on one of the big screens last night despite a huge ute contingent.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who notices how bad the service has become at FE. Fiddler's Elbow is a sad case of how a good place can go bad on a change of management. Up until about 3 years ago, Fiddlers was a regular location for dinner for DW-to-be and I. Once a week, more or less. I actually went there twice a week, usually, because an office bunch would do after work brewskies on Fridays. They were able to easily adjust their menu to help DW and I on our Weight Watchers efforts. Happy, fast service, and good food. Then it changed owner. Wait-staff was replaced rapidly, menu had minor changes, apparently, but the ability to do a lot of our regular substitutions to facilitate Weight Watchers went away (we always were willing to pay extra bucks for that, too). Bottom line, customer service died at FE 3 years ago. We noticed and began to go less and less, kinda hoping that it would return because people would stop going. Apparently they got either a different clientele, or we were the only ones who thought things had gone bad. I don't blame them for wanting to have Utes on TV.. but, they know about how many RSL fans will come and should set aside that much space until 10 minutes to kick off then slowly start to fill in with Ute fans. They have a contract with RSL. If something like that isn't incorporated into the contract, then I see no reason for Loyalists, or any group, to seek out FE as the place to watch the game.

I was depressed by how little RSL SOG on Saturday.
Why did Cunningham come out with only minutes left? Surely he had enough in the tank...
