Mexico ambivalent about foreigners in pro sports

Not directly applicable to RSL, but I just ran across this article by Jonathon Clark, a published freelance American journalist living in Mexico:

http://www.geocities.com/jonclark500/sports.html

I thought it was interesting to us for two reasons:

1. Mexico, with a league that pays quite well (better than MLS) is going through some of the same angst about foreign talent squeezing out local players that we hear about in Europe. In time, we may have a similar dilemma here; and,

2. In light of the seedy cheetos situation, I find the arguments ironic, to say the least!

Clark even uses the term "Mexicanization," which doesn't have a good vibe at all. I'll be watching how this situation plays out.

We can get on Mexicans' case on this subject, but I have to wonder when NBA & MLB fans are going to start saying the same thing.

Especially baseball. When I asked my baseball loving friend about the fact that less and less kids are playing little league and how that's going to affect MLB in the coming years he mentioned that we're going to see a lot more foreign players in baseball.
