An Open Letter to Dave Checkets

Dave,

I was a season ticket holder for the inaugural season but didn't buy season tickets last year or this year because of the uncertainty of the whole stadium situation. It is my fear and worry that the team will either fold or move and I will be left with unused season tickets and no refund. Maybe those fears are irrational, but they are my fears and they are legitimate.

I understand that you have an offer on the table from a group in Utah County that wants the team to play near Orem. Please consider this offer, please keep RSL in Utah. As soon as I see a stadium being built, I will buy season tickets. Unfortunately, I can no longer buy season tickets to see RSL play in a stadium that makes the beautiful game look less than beautiful.

Maybe I'm just a fair-weathered fan, but I'm a fan nonetheless. Even if RSL were to lose every match, they would still be my team. But I just can't buy season tickets again until RSL has their own home.

Signed,
A former season ticket holder

He's Too Tired???

What would any of us say about any player on RSL saying he was 'too tired' to do his job on the field?

OK, I do understand Checketts being fed up with things not going his way.

But, in my opinion, RSL never mustered even the barest of a proper public relations campaign to get the casual to non-fan on board. Getting a non-fan on board for a basketball arena is not hard because everyone has at least a passing notion of the game. Not so much with soccer.

If RSL had done a decent public relations push I might be willing to accept Checketts being 'tired'.

His expression of tiredness strikes me as pathetic and makes him no hero of mine. He appears to be a child throwing a tantrum, will take his marbles and go home. I'm hoping for a new local owner along with a new stadium deal.
