Anyone from the UC want to get together and watch this game? Bleacher's has Fox Soccer, and I'll probably watch it there. Any takers?

This game got me really excited for two things:

1) Next week vs. Mexico. It's gonna be great. It's gonna be physical. It's gonna be hard-fought. It's gonna be all of those other cliches that you can think of. U.S. looked okay today, but it was somewhat obvious to me that they were all running on cruise control, and still handling the game with relative ease.

2) Mathis. Holy crap. I don't know what the rest of you think, and granted I might be a tad biased, but Clint was absolutely instrumental in the attack resembling anything that can score. When he left the game...nothing. Clint seems like he's comfortable taking chances, and his passing and shooting looked dangerous. Not perfect by any stretch, but inspiring for sure. His "assist" to EJ (off of the crossbar) was awesome. If that would have gone in, I think I would have cried several tears of joy.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him come off the bench early in the second half next week.

Soccer rules.

Those of us who tried to get together to watch at Bleachers (I only went over for the second half and watched the first half at home) were frustrated because Bleachers wasn't receiving FSC for some reason. It was fun to socialize a bit though...

That being said... Mathis was great during the first half that I DID see! That assist was awesome and he was looking very happy after the goal. I can't wait to see more smiles like that in the coming months! Yeehaw Cletus!

It was classic Mathis, with both his strengths and deficiencies...
