I could tell you mine, but then I'd have to kill you. It's a tightly guarded secret that is going to take me all the way this year... 🙂

Forgive me if I sound stupid here. This is the first time I have attempted this Fantasy stuff!
Are you supposed to keep your roster a secret? I noticed that if you click on other players team names you can't see there roster. Does that change after the season starts or is it all a big Super-CIA-Ninja Secret!?

Just curious.

I will remove my roster if it is all a big secret.

You should be able to see everyone's roster after the season starts. Until then, there's quite a bit of strategy involved with the players you select. You can buy and sell players during the season. The value of players will change based on their performance. So, the traders philosopy of buy low, sell high seems to apply.

The preseason strategy, IMO, is to indentify some players that might be undervalued. When their stock rises, you can sell and earn more cash. During the season, a player may hit a slump which could cause his price to dip and make him more affordable.

Thanks Jason.
I won't stress too much this year. I will treat this season as my learning season... then may be more "strategic" next season.

That's exactly how I'm looking at it too. I don't even know a tenth of the names on that list, let alone whether they start or play well. This year is definitely a learning year for me.

But as I found out in football, there is no better way to get to know all of the players on all of the teams than to play fantasy sports. Before playing fantasy football, I was pretty familiar with the stars and the roster for my own team, but now I could probably tell you who the third receiver is on most teams. Hopefully, this will have the same affect for MLS too.

My first experience with fantasy sports was for MLS, and it turned me into a fantasy junkie. I now love all things fantasy sports. In fact, I've tinkered with building my own fantasy web site (still just a dream right now).

I think you will all enjoy playing. Although the SportingNews version isn't my favorite, the salary cap management is fun. I wonder if Yahoo! will ever do fantasy MLS.

It definitely is one of the best ways to get to know the players.

Who's your daddy... I mean... goalie?

I've picked Nick Ramando... is that totally less effective or what?

As for the game...
I'm just planning on having fun (and maybe winning.. oh wait, who am I kidding. I thought the Galaxy was a WNBA team until last year).
It will defenitely help me to get to know more players and their teams. I thought about going all RSL but I'm going to make up another team to do that. Kudos (those were yummy granola bars weren't they?) to the all RSL teams out there. :p

I am also in this just for fun, although if I end up winning, I was in it to win.

I echo colinkun's comments about fantasy sports being a great vehicle to really getting to know the players in a league. 2 years ago, I could probably name 40 or so NBA players. After 2 seasons of fantasy NBA, I can probably give you the exact free throw shooting percentages of 200 NBA players off the top of my head.

I'm still trying to figure out if it's really impressive, or just really, really sad.
