The Ratings Are In!

Ratings for the RSL match on KSL
Salt Lake Tribune

24,000 ppl tuned in.

This is excellent news considering it was Final 4 weekend, General Conference and coverage of the Pope's death.

Wow I think this bodes very well for RSL

Translation please. What does this all mean? Does it mean that KSL would likely be pleased?

Well I don't know what KSL was expecting but these numbers are really good considering the competition!

A 6 share is pretty impressive, especially for a Saturday night with all of the other competition.

Those numbers are great. They are better than I expected. Hopefully it will show some people just how excited people are for soccer and this team.

I wonder what share the news got that they bumped the game for.

How do they determine the numbers? Are the Nielsen ratings still around?

I guess since I was watching this at Iggy's and recording it at home, I count for 2? 😉

Not to nitpick, but minor detail: 24,000 households, not 24,000 people. Which makes it even better!

6 share is really pretty cool.

It would be nice to think that this bodes well for the attendance of our home opener however I’m not sure how the two correlate…

One thing that does not bode well for the home opener is that the match will be broadcast on ESPN2... that is great for fans that want to record it while they are actually at the match but it is going to be difficult to convince the fence sitters to buck up and pay for a ticket!

I have already heard the "Why should I pay for a ticket when I can see it for free on the TV?"

I don't agree. I think that markets that take this stance, KC and others, hurt themselves by not showing home games on television. The more exposure the team can get the better. If it makes some fense sitters not come out to the gate on openning day, then that's too bad. Those people will watch from their couch and then regret not being at Rice-Eccles because of the atmosphere we are going to create 🙂.

They will then pony up the dow to come out to other games in the season.

Of course, this is just my opinion.
