Carson in goal for Liverpool instead of Dudek. The youngster kept a clean sheet in Saturday's win over Bolton and keeps his place tonight as Dudek has a groin injury.

Half-time

Lyon/PSV

The whistle goes for the break and Le Guen will undoubtably be the happier coach. Malouda's 12th-minute strike has given Lyon a deserved advantage after dominating large swathes of the opening half. PSV have adopted a very defensive formation and Vennegoor of Hesselink has looked isolated in attack. Hiddink may well look to DaMarcus Beasley, PSV's top scorer in the tournament this season, as the match wears on as Lyon goalkeeper Coupet has yet to be tested.

Liverpool/Juve

Liverpool go into the break 2-0 in front thanks to two brilliant goals from Sami Hyypiä and Luis García. Liverpool pressed from the outset and have deserved their lead, though Juve have had their chances. Ibrahimovic smacked the ball against the post after being teed up by Nedved then Carson saved brilliantly from Del Piero, but otherwise Serie A's joint leaders have been unable to match Liverpool's aggressive play.

Juventus have not won in England in five matches (all in the Champions League), since defeating Manchester United FC 1-0 in the 1996/97 Champions League.

Cannavaro scores in the 63rd minute.

The ball bounces in front of the Liverpool goalkeeper and in from the defender's far-post header. After a brilliant performance, the young goalkeeper lets himself down by letting in a header he would have expected himself to save.
