The Cheap Seats: The Real Deal

But more than embracing their new surroundings, Kamler and his teammates are amazed by how SLC has embraced its new team. Yesterday, about 50 people watched RSL train. By comparison, did 50 people watch the MetroStars train all last season?

RSL season tickets are selling at a mind-boggling pace. Not quite U2 pace, but RSL people expect a sellout crowd for the opener next weekend, and will most likely open up additional seats in the 45,000-seat Eccles-Rice Stadium to accommodate the fan rush.

Wow! That is a great article. All kinds of love flowing there. I think that Lalas is now my favorite writer. :D

It almost sounds like a Loyalist wrote it. Someone sign him up and send him a t-shirt.

The best part is that a Loyalist didn't write it.

Lalas hasn't rated high on my list list of soccer writers, but he does now. Nothing works like flattery, even if he doesn't actually mention the Loyalists.

Favorite part--RSL staffers hanging around the office until 10:00 p.m. to watch, talk, and sell soccer. Who says the Crew are the hardest working team in MLS?

And how 'bout that "happy-go-lucky" team? It may be different from elsewhere and kinda throwback, but I like it when an outsider notes something like that. What a job the RSLFO, coaching staff, and players have done.

Now, to start winning our games . . .

That was beautiful...from the Majerus bashing to the "Office Space" reference.

Is it tonight yet?

Be patient, little one, tonight will come. It will come. Sooner than you think.

I've always enjoyed Lalas' writing. I also like reading Tino Palaces articles. It cracks me up how Tino adopted F.C. Dallas and decided to loathe the Chicago Fire.
