Pistons - Pacers Your Comments!

My OH My!

I don't really know what to think of this. Basketball Hooliganism!

I have seen my share of running street brawls after footy matches in the UK and none were as serious. Even when it was all happening, I never got involved but watching it all happen around me it never really seemed like a fight. It was mostly drunken idiots (or Yobs as they are called) just yelling and taunting each other. To be honest none of them were truly sober enough to do any real damage. It all seemed light hearted, like it was done as a joke or a way to just have a little fun.

Besides it all happened because of a rivalry, it was tradition. :o

Unless it was Millwall fans. those fans were deplorable, and mean spirited. I always avoided the City Ground when they came to town and I never travelled to Millwall either.

But last night seemed to be something completely different. It looked like MOB RULES! 😠

Ben Wallace should be suspended for the rest of the season for instigating the entire incident. While Artest should be suspended til the all star break for going into the stands.

Any fan "caught on tape" throwing anything should be banned from the arena for the remainder of the season or for life if they are seen to throw glass bottles or chairs. Their names and pictures should be forwarded to the Indiana arena to prevent them getting in there as well.

The three remaining matches between Indiana and Detroit should be played without fans being allowed to attend. An empty arena at both venues (They have done it in Soccer in Europe)

Teach the fans and players a proper lesson.

This was a sickening scene and they should all be held accountable. 😠

The League has just announced an indefinite suspension for Wallace, Artest and two others!

Good on the league...

Now we just need to see some criminal charges against fans and players!

It was insane! I think Artest is going to get screwed though. Yes he never should have gone into the stands, but it's the idiot fan that hit him in the face with a full cup of beer that is to blame! Before that, Artest had been shoved full-force in the face and hit with a towel and was just lying there staying out of it.

Look these players take so much verbal abuse all game, abuse that would be considered a crime in any other setting, that when people throw beer in your face I can understand going after the guy!

Just because I can understand it doesn't mean it was ok, and I think he should be suspended a few games, but no more than that. Those fans are the real villians (but Artest will take the rap because he's had past problems). Wallace should also be suspended a few games for starting the whole thing, but it's not his fault either that the fans decided to throw stuff!

I agree the rest of the meetings between these two teams should be played in empty stadia, which sucks for Pacers fans who didn't actually do anything, but it might still be the best option. At the very least the next one in Detroit. Of course they won't do that because the NBA is too concentrated on $$ and wouldn't dream of following SOCCER of all things (even though soccer has dealt with fan rowdiness more than any other sport)

I'm still more upset about the home-cooked reffing at the Heat game.

Back in 1997, the Galaxians were chanting "Kasey Keller, Kasey Keller!" at Brad Friedel.

He got so mad that he spit at their banner.

But later, he signed the spot that he had spit on and I think there's even a picture of him with the Galaxians afterwards, and everyone is smiling.

Once, when Eric Wynalda came down to our end in the old days of Shootouts, he would raise his arms up to encourage us to boo him louder. Then he would score, and hold his hand up to his ear & pretend he couldn't hear us.

So we can laugh at Detroit fans now, but this thread might be moved to the On Topic area some day...........

Ron Artest should be gone for the season. Everyone else involved should be gone for 30 games. Look out Jay-Z. You've got some real competition now that R-Tez can focus full-time on his hooks. What a freaking clown.

Pretty good guess there soccerman!
Ron Artest gone for season,
Jackson gone for 30
O'Neal gone for 25
Wallace gone for 6
and Johnson gone for 5
4 others including Reggie Miller gone for 1 game a piece.

I personally thought that Wallace should have got a harsher punishment because it was he who started the whole fiasco!

It will be interesting to see how the fans are dealt with!

Sorry guys. I can't be a loyalist anymore. I've been recruited to become the new NBA commish. I don't have a problem with Wallace's suspension because it's pretty much in line with past suspensions. I don't think it's fair to blame Wallace or the other Pistons for Artest running into the stands. It's not Detroit's fault Artest is a psycho. The dumbest thing of all is that if Artest had just taken his facefull of beer the guy who threw it probably would have been arrested or at least barred from the arena. Artest would have regained some credibility by acting in a mature manner and the Pacers would probably be in the Finals at the end of the year. Now the Pacers are done, Artest might be charged with assault, and he will certainly be writing several Detroit area citizens very large checks. But then I guess he's just keepin it real.
