I think the bottom line is the referee let this game out of control way before this incident. Perhaps if he had laid down the law earlier, this situation could've been avoided. Instead he let San Jose play thug-ball all night until RSL had enough.

If the ref hadn't been too busy handing out cards for all the wrong reasons; if the ref had been watching the game at all; if the ref had even a spark of humanity; if the ref had at least two brain cells! But of coarse his whole performance throughout the match proves that none of those things were true!

It was my impression that the Smurf player was berating Pierce for feigning an injury…

After the game Rusty talked about it saying basically...

you know me, I've been in this league and I don't drop and roll around, especially when we were pushing for a goal. I took a shot from him.

I'm not quoting him, but that's the idea.

I'm sure Waibel still remembers the Blitzz punking him and the Sounders in '01 down in Provo. Years of frustration eating at that man. Kind of have to pity him.

I agree to a point ...

I really do, I think Clint was absolutely justified in going over and standing up for a teammate, the problem isn't really that, it was that he laid his hands on one of the linesmen and that you just can't do. Especially when we already knew that the 'ref' .. actually I don't want to call him that, let's go with the pillock in the yellow/orange jersey, was having such a dreadful time of seeing without his dog.

Having said all of that, I'd support him no matter what, he makes up a good portion of the teams spirit, although if he could have sent some of that frustration into the net that would have been cool too.

Amen...

Clint was justified. When I talked to him after the game he even said that he believed his card was probably justified, but that more than one card should have come out.

Rusty said that the guy got in his face for faking and that the "F@%" word was a part of that.

Amen to that, as well. How much nicer would it have been if he took it out on the ball and the net! 😲 I guess we need to work on that. πŸ˜‰

What did the poor ball and net do? That's kind of harsh to punish them for the actions of the Smurfquakes, isn't it? πŸ˜‰
