Forca Barca! [R]

Nothing can completely erase our loss at the HDC yesterday, but Barca and Everton are doing their best for me.

Barca took a big three points out of Valencia today with a resounding 2-0 victory off yet another amazing strike by Ronaldhino.

And Everton's win on Saturday and Liverpool's loss today ensured the Toffees of fourth place and, barring any unfairness from UEFA or the FA, a spot in the Champion's League next season.

Nobody should be surprised by Barca's situation--they need a win next week at Levante and they beat out Madrid's spoiled ones for the title. In any case, they were expected to challenge for the title. Not counting chickens yet, but you have to like the Blaugrana's chances.

But Everton are a huge surprise. Most of the "experts" predicted relegation for Moyes' Boys, so some major servings of crow need to be sent out this week.

I'm sure LFC types are still saying that they deserve the CL spot. Those ain't the rules, guys. And to those who say fourth place isn't good enough, I'll respond with a question: what is? First place only, like in the old days? Fine--good luck to Chelsea, and everyone else to the UEFA Cup. Either way, the Reds didn't earn it in the League race so they don't deserve a spot if Everton doesn't.

On top of that, my little U19 team won the League Tournament Championship yesterday, so I've got another reason to feel upbeat despite RSL's loss.

Gotta take the good with the bad, I guess.
