Good books?

Since I was called out for liking Harry Potter (but being a Disney hater), it got me wondering what books you guys read?

I am currently reading Angels & Demons by Dan Brown (Da Vinci Code) and finishing the New Jedi Order series (Star Wars).

What do you guys read and would you recommend it?

Angels and Demons is great. Personally I think it's Dan Brown's best.

Angels and Demons was awesome, as was Da Vinci.

I really enjoy the Shannara series, John Adams was a great bio, and The Count of Monte Cristo, unabridged was just fantastic.

A & D does seem to take less gigantic leaps in logic than DaVince Code did.
I like the pace and the "who-dunnit" feel.

I like Star Wars, so the NJO is pretty good. I think they took a good story and then dragged it a little too long. Great for SW buffs like me that wonder what happens to our fearless Rebels after Return of the Jedi.

I read the first Shanara series book, but it came off as a LotR remake (I know its not, I can't help it).

I also have read quite a bit of the DragonLance series. Hickman being from Utah did help my liking it in the beginning but I rather like it (very large, like 400 books now though).

I am currently reading "Monstrous Regiment" by Terry Pratchett it is part of the DiscWorld series.... amazingly funny stuff.
If you like Douglas Adams you will absolutely love Terry Pratchett.

Also have been catching up on the classics as well. recently finished 1984 by George Orwell and Chesapeake by James Michener. both great books

Oh yeah... anything by Isaac Asimov is a winner

I try to read one classic for every two modern books.

I like non-fiction. Recently I have read We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With our Families about Rwanda in 1994. I also read Bury Me Standing about the Gypsies. Oh, and On Bull*#@% about, well... B.S. My mom just bought me Liberalism is a Mental Disorder by Michael Savage as well. Not done with that one yet.

I agree, Angels and Demons was a great book. Right now I'm reading Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It is a pretty good book, especially if you like math and code-breaking. It starts out a little slow, but picks up and gets really good. It does require a little bit of thinking, so if you don't like that in your books, I wouldn't recommend it to you. But if you do like a good, intellectually stimulating book then pick it up.

I also really like Harry Potter, Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, Tom Clancy, Patrick Robinson, and Tolkien.

Just finished re-reading Miracle of Castel di Sangro. Before that it was A.J. Jacob's "The Know-It-All". Prior to that it was "How Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of Globablization".

I can highly recommend them all.

I just read Susan Gilman's "Hypocrite in a Pouffy White Dress" and had to restrain myself from laughing hysterically and looking like a total dork on the good old UTA.

Might be kind of chick-ish for you people though.
