USMNT roster for May/June

No Pope, no Mathis

Is that good or bad?

While I'm a little disappointed, I think that it is a good thing. We need those guys.

One good thing is that Dallas will be without EJ.

Thanks Prime.

I just scanned that article but could not find where it said that the roster was for the WCQ. What I got from that was it was not a full roster and was for just the England match that is not a full England team.

I did see this from Bruce Arena tho
Quote:
"With the majority of our players in camp, we will have almost two weeks together as a group. Having this type of preparation is extremely valuable as we head into this phase of qualifying."

I think Eddie will and possibly Mathis could get the call.

Arena has made it clear he's going young with this team, but that doesn't explain the selection of Berhalter, McBride, and Vanney. The latter two are fine, but Berhalter over Pope? Puzzling, that one.

As for RSL, this is good news. We need Mathis and Pope on the field, as they showed repeatedly against the Galaxy.

The way I read it is that this is the pool from which Arena will play the England friendly, and the 2 WCQs.
I mean the dates are May 28, June 4 and June 8.
He isn't going to call more guys in with less than a week between the friendly and the WCQs. Plus, if he was going to call in Mathis or Pope, why weren't they on the list?

IMHO

I like that we could have our players in uniform for us against an FC Dallas team that will be missing much of their strike force. The diver and Johnson should both be otherwise engaged.

Better still, Vanney is on the USMNT list too. He is by far Dallas's best defender.

That is even better. I didn't notice that. Good call!

No worries I just didn't see any definite statements so I didn't see it the same way. I think Pope is great on the USMNT but I like him just as much in an RSL kit!

Cool! we should demolish Dallas then!

I'm a little disappointed...would have been very nice to have cheered and yelled for our home boys during a USMNT game. But at least we'll get to see them afterwards (barring any suspensions).

I'm more concerned about remembering that I'm supposed to cheer for the likes of Landon and EJ. Sure will be nice to have that fish factory up front.
