I'm happy to see so much conversation on the new stadium, and that it's almost come down to a bidding war of who wants it most, instead of who'd rather not get stuck with the bill.

How tall is Dante? Is he more of a target forward?

The stadium saga continues...this Curtis guy is a piece of work. However, if they can come up with a solution that involves getting a stadium here within 2 years, I don't care WHERE it is in SLC.

I thought that the team was called Real Salt Lake. Not Real Sandy or Real Murray.

I just wrote a letter to the editor. Hopefully it will get some attention.

I thought the team was called Chicago Fire not Bridgeview Fire.
I thought the team was called LA Galaxy not Carson Galaxy.
I thought the team was called FC Dallas not FC Frisco.

I couldn't resist, since this same argument is going on over at BS.

Yes, it might make more sense to keep it in Salt Lake, but....

anyone want to start a list of pro teams in the US that AREN'T located in the city that their team is named after? Might be easier to list the ones that are...

I didn't realize that there was such a feeling of "us vs. them" in SL County.

edit: stole my thunder, SoccerPrime 🙂

I understand your point, and put me in the camp of those who want the stadium in Salt Lake City itself.

But the fact is that costs and city/popular support have pushed MLS stadiums to the suburbs. "LA" Galaxy play in Carson, not LA; FC "Dallas" will move in three months to Frisco, well north of town; "Chicago" Fire will move to Bridgeview next year. If Metro ever get their deal done they'll move to Harrison, New Jersey. The trend is obvious.

The key is to get a quality stadium built in time for the 2007 season. I'd prefer the stadium be built in or close to downtown SLC, but if Sandy makes the best deal then I'll support it. Of course, the people whose support counts are Uncle Dave, Cousin Steve, and the rest of the headshed.

OBTW, for those who have problem with the long drive, when I lived in Virginia I drove 70 miles each way to RFK and here in SoCal I'm just about 100 miles from the HDC, where I'll be this Saturday for Galaxy-Quakes. In the end, it will be a long drive for some of us (for me when I finally move back to SLC! Right now it's 700 miles each way.)

It’s just obvious now that it’s all about politics and not about what’s best for the team or the fans. Just my opinion.

I particularly liked this part of the article.

And Anderson touts downtown's amenities.
"After the games, they have a wide variety of options in terms of restaurants, clubs, hotels, live music, other entertainment. What are they going to do if they go to a game at 90th South?"
