I just got back from taking a look at it. They are halfway done. It's looking really good. I can't wait to see it all done. You'll have to wait until I get home to post pictures because I left my camera cord at home though. Sorry.
Maybe someone else will come along and post some. __________________

I would like to go down and see the work in progress, but I was wondering how I get in the stadium. Is it just open?

Yea, you can just walk through the gate on the South end, they don't care.
I can't wait to see them play on it! ![]() The rest of the pics are here

Thanks for the information on getting into the stadium. Yeah, it looks very nice. I agree that it will be nice to see them play on grass. Is it Saturday yet?

just got back... It is really looking nice...about 65% of the way finished, they should be able to finish today.
Spent some time talking to the local grass man and the guys from Portland who are overseeing the job. They do not think they will be able to keep the edges green, but everything else should be fine if they can keep enough water on the field. The guy from Portland talked with me re all they have learned since they first put down a grass field over astroturf in Portland for the "ta-da" US v Costa Rica qualifier in 1997. At that time they used 4' lengths that were about 2' wide. They put them in by hand and squeezed them together by hand. He is very happy with the improvments made. Now the rolls of grass are 50' long by about 4' and extremely heavy. They are pressed together hydrolically by tractor. They know when and how much water to get on the grass. One thing that is new is the tarp. The Portland people had not used it before, but they liked the concept. Beside protecting the field turf, because they make sure the tarp is perfectly flat when they lay the grass, when they water the grass heavily after it is laid, it creates a suction with the tarp, creating another impediment to having the grass pull up or move. The field does look great...feel free to go down and take a gander...the stadium is open...and the smell of grass...ahhh 🙂

I'll never forget that late rocket shot from Tab Ramos that gave the US a much needed 1-0 victory. I thought the ball was going to go right through the net. :D
