I was wondering to myself if the reason we can't win on the road is because of the grass in other stadiums. Surely it couldn't be that simple? Nobody could keep their feet last night, both teams were falling all over the place. I'm sure the field isn't in prime condition and there is no way to time it perfectly since we had to play on it yesterday (would have been a good day for an away game) and it was wet. Let's hope that they practice on it harder next week and get their 'grass' legs.

The grass looks good in Sun light but the view under the lights with their funny light spectrum and the even more un-natural lights in the giant screen really show the problem areas (which might help the sod crew). Definately better than the Home Depot re-sodding I saw on the TV game a couple weeks ago. The sod guys had problems keeping the grass from drying out during the lay down from high temperatures and high winds. Some water is coming out at the edges but it's evaporating plenty. I hope there isn't any Sodium and Potassium toxicity (salt posioning) caused by the Native Box Elder County lake silt coupled with Na and K based fertillizer (we only use NH3 stuff) when the water that goes on will mostly evaporate leaving it's salts.

I noted at least 8 slips or loss of traction on the grass including one full spinout. Only 2 or 3 divots cut however!Caballero over ran the end line and hurt his rear on the signage. Ground balls seemed to run smoothly which is a plus over a lot of real grass fields.

RSL's players have a lack of accleration in the first 1 to 3 steps, this really shows up on a sloooow grass field. Tiger was tired from his T & T nat team game.

Has anyone been up to see the grass lately?

I was wondering if maybe this rain and cooler temps is helping the grass to green up and thicken up.

Anyone have a sod update?

Once again, I think that the Soccer Gods are watching over us. They have cooled the weather down and provided moisture to make sure the field will be great, but will make the weather beautiful for Saturday. I think that we have really pleased the Soccer Gods to have them watch over us so well. Be sure and sacrifice something to them in thanks.

Here's to cooler weather at any of the earlier start times. It can easily be in the 90s at 530PM this time of the year.
