Good Supporters Pics from England vs. US

After our goal (both pics)

It is interesting...while I think that this was by far the worst Sam's Army section song-wise I have been at to date (and other guys with many caps felt the same way), not-Sam's-Army-folks seem to think that the supporters section did a great job. Wow, if we could crank it up another notch at this Saturday's game....

The thing that sucks, in a way, is that Sam's is sitting pretty far from the Loaylists in S1.

But if they are on the other end we can get more of the stadium involved. If we were clustered together, the other side would wonder what we were doing and they wouldn't be able to join in on the chants. This way more of the stadium can be enticed to sing with us. IMO...

What did you Americans think of the English fans? Numbers of people and songs etc? I thought the English turn-out for an end of season friendly with a reserve squad was ok (certainly by number of flags). England had 40,000 people travel to Portugal for the European Championships last year, with no real hooligan incidents.

I think they were great. The stadium looked like London but sounded like Chicago. We could hear the English fans though.

I met tons of English guys who were very friendly and cool. At the Niketown shop on the Miracle Mile the US jerseys were flying off the shelves from England fans and I thought that was really cool too.

They even seemed okay with our chants of "we own Man United", and "its called soccer".

I'm not suprised about England fans liking the Man U chants, since alot of England fans dislike Man Utd. (10% of English people may support Man Utd, but 80% hate them). A few years ago, despite 5 players from United were playing for England, England fans used to sing 'Stand up if you hate Man U'.

Personally i liked the big flag the Americans were waving when they scored. It looked really cool on TV.

That is rather amusing.
