Help SoccerPrime move to Utah!

Ok, some of you may not know that I don't live in Utah. However some of you may know that I have been trying to change that for the last year.

And now after watching the WCQ this weekend, its got my even more motivated. I wish I was there and I don't want to miss out again!

I have looked at a lot of jobs (which is my #1 prob) but nothing has happened.
I have looked at the housing market which is ideal. Juliana was my first unofficial real estate agent when I started looking last summer.

Any suggestions?
Lets make this a long and informative thread!
Ask yourself, wouldn't you want your webmaster closer???
:D
Thank you!

What sort of jobs are you looking for, and what salary range will you need?

I am in the mapping/GIS industry.
And I have degree in that from a well regarded 4 year program.

Somewhere in the 40-50k range would be great.

I have thought about pursuing my masters in Utah just so I can get out there. Is that lame?

No, it's not lame if you want to live on student loans. I have a great little apartment in my basement. 😉 Just kidding...

I'm still your #1 Unofficial Real Estate Hookup. My brother can be your #1 Actual Real Estate Agent if you want. But let's fry that fish when we jump through it. (Wait a second...)

Try posting on monster.com or looking at local newspaper's websites for job openings. Harktheherald.com for Daily Herald, deseretnews.com for DesNews, etc. etc. Or contact a job placement agency. That's how my husband landed his current job which has been a dream job for us; he was contacted by a temp agency and then later hired full-time.

Good luck!

p.s. Utah County is NOT THAT BAD. And it's cheaper. Fly out for a trip before deciding where you'd want to live. There are lots of great communities all over the state. I love Sandy, Draper, Pleasant Grove, St. George, etc. etc. I live in Orem anyway.

No it isn't. I know that USU does a whole lot with GIS in the Natural Resources college. I don't know about on the master's level, but I am working on (sort of) a Geography Education Masters Degree right now. I believe Utah has a decent masters program.

There should be quite a few jobs, most municipalities are starting to employ people in GIS.

Go geography geeks.

people who say Utah county isn't that bad are just trying to convince themselves that they didnt make a bad decision to live in utah county.

Move to utah county if you want to have nothing to do but sit on your front porch for the evenings

move to salt lake or davis county if you have an active social life

BADDA BOOM!

take that you UC punks!

need I remind you that you ride with hitler to RSL games from the UC!!
