How about having a few people passing out flyers at the gates that advertise The Loyalists and let them know how to join. Honestly, I just discovered The Loyalists by accident when I was doing a Google search on Real Salt Lake. I would have heard about you at the game, but I wouldn't have known how to join or what the benefits of joining are. We don't want people to join just for the T-Shirts, our main goal should be that we want people standing up and cheering and singing together and supporting the team.

I would volunteer for this duty, by the way.

Oh, you didn't join me up just for that?

just kidding. 😉

I've read over this thread and you guys have some really good ideas. I would add, but it looks like you covered it, for the most part. If I do come up with something, I'll add it here.

1- Chant/Songs Secretary (and assistant): To manage all things chanting and singing, including the responsibility to lead the group in the chants and songs during the games. They would need to coordinate (perhaps through official liasons) with the other supporters groups in our area during the games.
2- Secretary of Evangelizing (and assistant): Recruiting and working on getting the rest of the crowd involved more at the games.
3- Secretary of History (and assistant): Responsible for chronicling the events of the Loyalists including pictures, etc.
4- New Member Secretary (and assistant): Responsible for fellowshipping new Loyalist members. Introductions into the culture, and intros to other Loyalists, forums, organizational structure, game day activities and procedures, etc.
5- Secretary of Information Disemination (and assistant): Responsible for getting timely, important or interesting information into the hands of Loyalists - probably via email. Something like the Newsletter, but to include practices, etc. So perhaps Jules is already doing most of this, but perhaps it needs to happen more frequently, and/or contain more information - especially for those that don't use the forum.
6- Secretary of Game Day Activities (and assistant(s)): Would include the tailgate. Also included things that allow the Loyalists to "show well" at the games, such as face painting, flags, streamers, etc. It's kind of a dumb name, but I couldn't think of anything better.
Secretary of Electronic Services (and assistant): Responsible for anything dealing with the electronic medium that the Loyalists use such as Website, email groups, forum(s) conduct, etc.

This is what I believe should be on the agenda. What will our committees be, what will their duties and responsibilities include. Are we going to be discussing this tomorrow, or at the meeting next week?

My ideas for making us better fall into several of these proposed committees, although in my mind I thought they would all fall in one committee. I think Jules' posts for meeting agenda set it out more along the lines I was thinking.

The ideas I really want to pursue include:

1-Getting the chants together in one master sheet, which could be updated as each new chant is invented. Put that sheet on the website, along with MP3s and perhaps Videos demonstrating how those chants look and sound. Also, perhaps, as Jules suggested, recording a CD of the Loyalists doing all their chants at a game, and distributing that to new members, to help them get acquainted.

2-Improve our chants with some choreography. I have some ideas on that percolating.

3-This one is my favorite. It's an idea to involve the rest of the crowd and I'm not going to type the whole thing out again, but you can read old post of mine to get the gist of it.

There may be more, but I'll have to think about it for a while.

Please tell me he's not planning another weeknight meeting. Will I be forced to miss it again? Can we do this tomorrow instead? I missed the whole organization of the Loyalists because of weeknight meetings, and now I'll miss the reorganization. Say it ain't so! :banghead:

One of the best ideas I've heard yet.
Definite rep coming for this one.

Does anyone have a very good CD burner that can pump them out?

Yeah, pretty difficult for me to get to meetings during the week as well. I've got a hunch that Glenn would like to be present, and that the this weekend isn't going to work for him. Perhaps the other weekends aren't good either. Doesn't he play in a band or something? I would imagine that weekends are prime work times for bands. I will say this, though, if we can make the delegation of responsibility a priority, then these types of conflicts ought not to occur in the future.

I'm working on a couple versions of an RSL hymn/anthem. Jake has a Loyalists hymn he has done.

I've got 3 desktops and 1 laptop with a burner. I could do it. I have some CDs that we can use as well.
I really like the look of the "Loyal to the Royal" CD jacket that was made for the 1st home game. Maybe we can get one made for this CD as well.

Yes, Glenn has some "gigs" this weekend and won't be able to be at Iggy's. He specifically is going out of his way to hold the same meeting two different days, two different places to try to accommodate as many people as possible. Glenn is also busy next Saturday during the game as well.

If there are several people who can't make it, just ask Glenn if he could schedule one of the days on a Saturday. That seems reasonable. Just ask him! Someone else will have to email him, though, because he just skims mine and doesn't read them anymore because they're so... numerous... with C10 stuff and whatnot.

We're going to have an informal Loyalists chat at 9:00 tonight (20 minutes from now) for anybody who might be interested.

Snarf, will you be on the chant committee?

I was thinking a little better than that even. I put this in a PM to Montgjules a while back, but let me elaborate.

I work at a TV station. So I know those kind of folks. I talked to the Audio guy here at work, he does all sorts of audio things on the side (mixing concerts, for example he will be doing a STYX show that is coming to town soon, etc.) He said he would be happy to come to the game and record the Loyalists as we go through our litany of chants. All he would probably ask is for a few tickets for him and his son to see the game (which I suppose he would need to get in, no, that's probably not true, he'd probably need some sort of credential for the equipment he'd be bringing). He would then take the recordings and make a master CD. We could have McKid or The Cup or whoever wants to design something, put a nice CD jacket together, and then a professional place could press us a large number of discs. He was going to look into prices for me. I don't know what it would take, but he was thinking that it would probably cost the same to have a place press us 1,000 CDs as it would to try and put 200 together.

We have more than 200 members, right? I assume that many, if not most, would like their own copy. We could sell them or give them depending on the cost I guess. It would look professional instead of homemade, and people would see just how cool the Loyalists really are.

Depending on what the responsibilities of the Chant Committee turn out to be. I was thinking that is where I'd like to be, but Aerick's suggested committees are different than your suggested committees. I'll go where I feel most appropriate to my major interests.
