RSL's Open Cup debut [R]

So now that the embarassment of the last venture into the HDC of the year is over. How are we going to play against a lower division team. Are we going to play like we are pissed and destroy them, or play like we have no confidence and bow out of the cup?

I'm really trying to not be a fatalist here . . . but if I had to put money on this game I wouldn't be betting RSL. We don't have the slightest hint of a notion of a fragment of a clue right now, and nothing seems to be getting better.

(Please don't try and talk me in to being excited because Clint mathis scored his first goal in the 17th game of the season)

Looks like it's a big deal for the Thunder.

This will be a tough game. If RSL doesn't show up ready to play, we will lose. USL teams thrive on opportunities to beat MLS teams and have had some success over the years, even if usually limited to the early rounds.

If the boys take this one lightly, we won't have to worry about the next round.

Coming into the season, I thought the LHUSOC was an achievable goal for RSL, and since Chicago had always emphasized the tournament, the SP would do the same here. But with the way we're playing and our lack of quality depth (especially on defense), this tournament will be a tough one for us.

Hopefully we can do well and get some confidence back.

Yes, but is Broome a leader? We need a leader, not another support person.

Is this game televised? Sorry if it's already been discussed somewhere.

A leader would be nice, but at this point I would settle for players.

I hope RSL will come out swinging. After all, they must be mighty pissed after last night's result. That anger and frustration will hopefully make its way into their game.

I figure that we have good players on the back line, but not a leader (except Dunseth will be available now. Without a leader back there, you can 4 good players that look like crap which is what we saw last night.

It won't be televised, but it will be broadcast on 1280.
