Or, if you do, put an [R] in the title of the thread. Right? 🙂

To answer your original question HibaIssa, no I haven't read the book yet, but I pre-ordered it months ago on Amazon so it will be arriving tomorrow. I won't get to read it right away though because my brothers get first dibs, so those spoilers are sounding mighty tempting right about now.

I have my copy reserved at Barnes & Noble, but I won't pick it up until tomorrow.

PS While you are picking up the Half Blood Prince, you should get Magic Street by Orson Scott Card.

I work for a library software company and one of the key areas of the software I work with are requests which are people who are on a waiting list to check out a copy of an item. Needless to say the waiting lists for Harry Potter titles when they come out are very very long and every time another one comes out, I get lots of questions and problems about how to handle such long queues for the title.

Nothing like having to tell a site who accidentally removed 2500 people from the waiting list that we can go back and create the list again, but will have lost the order of the list. (So the patron who was 3rd in line because they placed the request 6 months ago, is now 1384th in the queue and the patron who placed the request last week and was 2149th is now first in line for example)

I am glad so many of you like HP. My wife and I have read all of the 5 novels (now 6) and own the 3 movies. We love it. We mostly got into it when my sis-in-law made fun of us for having no clue what it was (this is pre-movie, around 2001). So we made it a point to read them. We read them together and it was fun (ah the honeymoon years).
I think I liked Goblet of Fire the most so far.
I hope to get the Half-Blood Prince this week.

BTW the Goblet of Fire movie comes out next summer I believe.

I got hooked because my family forced me to go see the first movie. I had this idea in my head what HP was about and before that I was convinced I would hate it. I saw the movie and thought it was a pretty cool story. So I went home after that and read all the books that were out at the time (I think it was 4) in about a week. Then I turned into the HP geek that I am now; waiting in line for midnight premiers and book releases. I even post on a HP message board.

The thing I love about HP is how it is written so children can understand, but it has so much more to it. Even small details like what each character's name means and how it can be related to their character just make it even more interesting.
