Somebody asked him once if he ever got tired of people asking him to beam them up and he said no. He said they'd been saying it for years and he loved it. I think he was my favorite ST:TOS charachter. You could always count on him. Even his appearance in ST:TNG was pretty great too. Very good episode inlcuding a Dyson sphere. An engineers dream come true.

Yeah, I remember that one! It was great to see him on TNG, same old Scotty. The line he has in Star Trek IV where he is trying to get the computer to recognize him by talking to it, 'Hello computer!?' is my pc's start up sound (not being a geek that's what I call it, I dunno the technical term).
Good times...

I too am saddened by his passing. You know, Kirk never actually said that.

Coincidence that Bruce Lee died the day I was born (July 20, 1973) and James Doohan died the same day 32 years later? I think not. I will "bring balance to the force".

Thank you! I'm here all week!

Kirk never said beam me up, Scotty. It was always a number to beam up.

Very sad.
We liked him so much my mom's dog is named Com. Montgomery Scott (we call him Scotty).
Anyway, at 85 and with Alzheimer's and pneumonia, Mr. Doohan lived a long happy life. I too remember great lines from the ST series. One of my favorites was in one of the Movies where he tells Kirk that he has the Enterprise "lit up like a Christmas tree". 🙂

He will be missed.
