For what it's worth, and maybe this has been stated elsewhere (forgive me if so), it's not going to happen this year according to somebody at the FO. (If I remembered who said it, I'd tell you. But it was mentioned when we went up a couple weeks ago.) Originally we were all thinking two more teams for 2006. But it looks like that may have fizzled into 2007. That's probably old news by now. Sorry... I don't follow other hopeful cities. I just follow the city whose dream came true...... SLC.

have you gotten rep from Soccerprime yet? 😉
Seriously though, I think that the Southeast should get a team. Who is the nearest... Columbus? DC? I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. Dallas?

Whoever gets the team, they just have to make sure that the ownership group has their schtuff together. There have been enough problems already on that front.

2007 was always the target. The 2006 year was only for the Wizs and Quakes to move/buyout. BTW AEG mentioned yesterday they might not sell the Quakes and might not even move them...like sands in the hour glass...
Also, the only solid expansion story right now is the Milwaukee MLS led by the Fire's ex-GM Peter Wilt. But they want to build the SSS before the MLS team gets there, so 2008 is their date. I'll add that Milwaukee MLS lost their first battle to gain prime downtown real estate Tuesday but they are still looking.

Hey I read this on the ESPN.com chat with Comm. Garber yesterday:

Michael (Cape Girardeau, MO): With Peter Wilt stating that 2008 is the goal for Milwaukee expansion, do you foresee any expansion before then, say in 2007? Or will the league shoot for next adding two teams in '08 (assuming all goes well in Wisconsin!)

Don Garber: (2:58 PM ET ) 2007 is are target for our next round of expansion with Toronto the frontrunning city. I am traveling to Toronto tomorrow for a meeting with the Maple Leafs board where we hope to get one step closer to finalize a deal in that city. We're still working hard on finalizing the second team, no city leading the pack at this point. Michael, I plan to be with Peter in Milwaukee at some point during the month of August.

All the report mentions is that MLS is looking into site locations and solicating local public help.

One rumor has it that possibly AEG is involved, happy from their successful +$25 million sale of DC.

I like your Ajax America/Orlando idea better.

Would be no problem getting more Dutch to come to Florida.

Although I live in Florida, I am from Pennsylvania.

I would love for Philly to get a team.
Doesn't hurt that my sister lives 15 minutes from where they propose to put this Philly SSS.

Besides, I have been told the MLS/Orlando/Ajax plan is backburner now. 🙁
