Hmm... then what is the point of saying the Loyalists are "partners" with Team Gear?
Shaun of Team Gear told me that it was an exclusive discount only for Loyalists. Steve (Lucky13) has told me that the Team Gear discounts is why we now have membership cards to begin with.
Mike, the owner of Team Gear, also told me that his hang up on creating a good Team Gear website to sell stuff to Loyalists was dependent on him figuring out how to tell Loyalists from non-members...

If the discounts are given to everyone, then whats the point?

The Loyalists are partners with team gear for a couple of different reasons... a discount to "supporters" is just one of those reasons. One other reason is that they host Loyalist meetings in the past and have said they will do it again.

At the time the discount was given there was only ONE FREAKIN' SUPPORTERS GROUP. Now there are at least three and if Team Gear wants to give other supporters groups a discount, so what... It is not money out of your pocket! and it IS good business as far as I am concerned...

Jeez is it any wonder some people got the impression that Loyalists were ELITIST? Everybody gets there feel bads hurt and there knickers in a bunch when a few ppl say we are elitist and unwelcoming. Everybody bloody panics and we have all kinds of meetings and debates about how we can make it better and in one thread we take ten steps backwards...

FFS People we are either "elitist" or we are "welcoming" we can't be BOTH!!!

sheesh!

Neg rep away... whatever... and while you are at it why don't you cancel your Daily Herald subsription as well... 😉

You shouldn't have a problem. Talk to Shaun if he is there. He is really great to work with. And if all else fails, which I'm sure it won't, tell him that you were sent there by us specifically.

Actually, when I went in that was the first cards that they saw, so I take it that they don't actually check for them. I think you just need to mention the discount.

I want a card...

I think the point Ethan was trying to say was:

Did he get the discount because he said he was a Loyalist and is not? Then that's not the best.

Did he get a discount just because he said he loves RSL, then that is great.

I don't think Ethan was saying no one else deserves a discount, but if saying you are a Loyalist to get a discount and you are not, I believe this is the concern Ethan had.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I agree, if Team Gear wants to give discounts it's up to them. It is their money.
