Why no Keeper Jersey?

I know there are a bunch of DJ fans on this board (me, being from Indiana, I'm a Jay Nolly fan!). How come no one (besides me) has asked for RSL to offer their goalkeeper jersey for sale? In fact, I don't believe any MLS Teams offer their keeper jersey for sale to the public...

Having a son who is a keeper for his local U13 Travel Soccer Team has made me appreciate the position and understand what it take to be a good, let alone great keeper...

Come on all you crazy keeper fans out there... start asking the question! Let's face it... if it's marketable, they, or someone will sell it! The RSL jersey's are a great buy!

That's a good point,I was asking myself the same thing, at least a shirt or something on sale would be nice. I'm definetly a DJ fan 😉

I think it would be a good idea to sell a keeper jersey, but I've been following MLS since the beginning and I don't think they have ever offered one for any of the teams. Player jerseys are a standard thing to sell, but keeper jerseys aren't.

Why do you think that is Hermey? Is it because the keeper is not the guy(s) who put the points on the board? Is the US fan so caught up in who scores as to not understand that a good keeper can save you a goal or two during a game, and therefor be just as important to the team?

Like in American Football, offence puts butts in the seats... but defence wins championships! Living in Indianapolis, I believe I can state that as FACT! LOL!!

Any other opinions?

I'm a big Jay Nolly fan also, but DJ Countess has been playing great the last few games... helps when you have a defense also. Goalkeeper jersey's would not be a bad idea to sell!

My guess is that there's not one particular official keeper jersey for each team. Much of the time, especially on hot days, the keeper will simply wear the team's change strip jersey.

Even so, the point is well made. If keeper jerseys were offered for each team, they would sell very well. I think any MLS fan can name the keepers around the league--they are stars in their own right.

Excuse me for being negative, but how are you going to sell an "official" DJ Countess jersey? He only has like 7 different ones!!!

I think that is probably has to do with what Rover said about not having official keeper jerseys, as well as that people are used to seeing sports jerseys worn around but something like a keeper jersey is a bit different. Some have padding built into the sides and don't lend themselves to casually being worn around town like a lot of sports jerseys are. That's how I think the people who make the decisions see things anyway...from a marketing standpoint. If a lot of people made it clear that there is a demand for official team keeper jerseys, maybe they would change their minds.

I think that is the point that he was making about why keeper jerseys aren't sold. Maybe if they just went to one, it would be feasible.

DJ fans could always get the white away shirt with DJ's name on it... he's worn that in goal at least once that I can recall.
