Goal #100

Was it just me or was Kries' goal one of the best I've seen ever in MLS? That was a goal worthy of the Champions' League. It was absolutely SPECTACULAR. Even my wife, who is a complete soccer novice was awe struck.

I wish I would have had a better angle on it - say from the north end. I hope we'll be able to see it in some fashion on the internet. Very unfortunate that they decided not to televise this historic event. Not that they could tell the future, but I think arrangements should have been made to have something recorded when it was determined that it was possible to have this goal scored tonight. :P

I wish I had a better angle on it too. Like, to have seen it at all. Bummer that no one televised the game. If it wasn't caught on some kind of video, it won't be a goal of the week nominee.

For Rover and others who didn't see it, I'll do my best. A couple of years ago in the Champions League, Zidane hit a volley from the top of the box into the upper corner. It was voted the best goal in Champions League history.

Jason's hit tonight was that good! I've pondered about it during my drive home, I don't know if I've seen a better goal struck in person. It was a left footed volley to be remembered, regardless of the fact that it was a milestone.

He was asked after the game if he'd ever hit a ball that well with his left foot. He said, "I have. But, I think it was back in 96."

Don't worry every goal is sent to MLS from the home team who have to film every game. It'll be on the web and may well be - should be - goal of the week.

And even if it shouldn't, it isn't like RSL fans won't stuff the internet ballot to make it happen.

It might not be on goal of the week because there was no tv. That's happened before.

Even now, on mlsnet, you can't watch the goal, you can only click on a link to listen to the call for that goal.

If they can't come up with video to show, it would be a shame.

Is there a way to get the footage for RSL fans? I would be happy to convert it and put it in a format good for the internet....

This was an interesting quote from Jason that I found in one of the many articles about this event on MLSnet.com and RealSaltLake.com:

"It had to be one of the best goals I've ever taken in this league," said Kreis. "I'm going to be proud of that one for sure, and will be able to look back on that one in video for years to come."

I wonder if he WILL have video footage to look back on for this one. :P

I know Channel 2 had a copy of the goal, but it was from the West side, about the middle of the field. It wasn't the best view of it. Still impressive however.
