That's why supporters sections are GA. So that anyone in the stadium who shows up and sees that we are the coolest can abandon their seats and sit with us.

And don't worry about security, they'll never hassle you at all...let's just say I know a guy who has stood in our section all year without tickets for our section. Let me add a caveat...security will never hassle you if you don't throw bottles, cans, cups, or feces onto the field.

...or light fireworks in the stands... :torch:

Now really, was that so much to ask for? That's all we wanted. 🙂. Besides, we get so tired of stroking our own egos at our place, that it's nice to get it stroked by someone else for a change.
:smoke:

And please...this response was intended as a good hearted jab...no hard feelings, right? See you all on Saturday. DEATH TO THE SMURFQUAKES!!!

I'll never give in. You think I'd frequent a forum like that? Ha! Never! (My alterego, however, can never be accounted for.)

RSL SchmarSL...just give me a black or red shirt

I'm wondering if a new guy can chime in......I never had been to a soccer...er...football game and after months of avoiding it, had no choice. I had to go to a fireworks show on the 4th and procrastinated the yearly gulls..er....trappers...er...buzz....i mean stingers tickets until they didn't have anything left. I sent my wife up to the stadium to get RSL tiks. We sat up towards the top of the north goal section.

All the chanting and cheering, rumbling stadium, beating drums, streamers....badass. As soon as the game ends, my wife looks at me and says the unthinkable, "Let's get season tickets." My wife! Wanting to spend money! Unbelievable.

Alright, for you Loyalist and RCB guys, here's where this long stupid story gets interesting: For the 24th, we decide to catch the game and fireworks, see if this RSL thing is for real...the Dallas game...(by the way, the most wicked awesome fireworks ever)...I decided to spend a little more cash to get a better seat...in the corner...got the northwest corner. First Half: RSL scores 3 goals and it's the most boring thing I've ever seen. I think we must have been crazy to enjoy the first game. Fans sitting there doing nothing. Dead quiet. And RSL scored three times! We decide to move back over towards the chanting. Second half: no goals, wicked awesome time! Sold again.

We went to the Chivas game and this time decided to get tickets behind the chanting and drumming. (Wish I'd been there for hockey festivities but got there a few minutes late? never knew anything happened til tonight..) Even in that wicked crazy heat my wife had to step out of twice, great time...other than that one Chivas kid banging his Christmas present. I understand hooligans a little better....i wanted to kill him.

OK, what it all boils down to is that I bought out the season. And here's your kicker (no pun intended). I don't give a damn about soccer. It's ok. I like the whole relegation concept (note: LA Clippers). But I'm a hockey guy. I live and breath it. Come to a Grizzlies game - I'm the loud obnoxious one behind the opposing team bench. Family friendly, but no one gets to a hockey player like I do. I'm the guy the players swear at on the way out. I'll take on any heckler at any hockey game in the U.S. Period. But I've never bought season tickets to the Grizzlies. Why? Maybe because it's not the NHL? Maybe because prices are too high? Maybe it's gone so corporate that the team doesn't even have a booster club that I remember seeing at every Golden Eagles game growing up and the real fans are gone. I don't know.

What I do know is that I bought the tickets because the support groups make the soccer game the funnest damn place to be. There aren't any rabid Bruins or Sox clubs around here... (note: Directv bill). If I call 1280 and talk about the Grizz, the ratings get so low they ask me not to call back.

I have had numerous conversations with the season ticket guy about you guys and how cool the groups are. I am trying to get to one of these games early enough to find out more and perhaps get more involved. Maybe this week.... So why this long, stupid, new guy message......

Because when I was actually at the games I had no idea all this stupid bickering and arguing over who killed who was going on? (can you hear monty python? sweet, eh) People complaining about seats and banners and streamers and blah blah blah. I wouldn't even know now if I didn't play in all-night online poker tourney...needed to kill some time and ended up reading these posts. All I knew AT THE GAME, from the outside looking in, was that the groups were making the game a great time. Not I, or anyone else, could get this kind of thing going at a Grizz game. Way too stuffy. And I went to the Sox-Rockies series at Coors Field last year and my buddy and I were told to sit down because the fans behind us couldn't see. It really happened.

I got N27 for the last one and this Saturday. That's as close as I could get in the front rows. I've got N29 for the rest of the games....why? Because I asked the ticket guy to get me as close to the noise as possible without going in. Look, I'm not sure my wife is ready to stand up the whole game, ok?...cut me some slack....But without you guys, fact is I do not go to the second game and I sure don't buy out the season and get on the list for next year. No supporters...no me. No matter how good Andy Williams is.....(fun to watch that guy.)

I don't care where the stadium is built. I don't know every rule. I will never know how this whole draft, superdraft, senior player, junior player, international, protected unprotected crap works. What I do know is that the closer you get to the supporters, the better the game gets...that's where you're going to find me......damn shame people are talking about not showing up now....right after I buy the tickets.....

My $2.50...if I only get two cents keep the change...or give it to that Chivas kid so he can get a new toy......

Sorry for the length.........OUT

Well, GeNioS, you are more than welcome to come and cheer with us anytime you want. I'm glad that we as supporters groups are making it a fun experience for you and hopefully a lot of other people.

If you'd like to get to know some of us a little better, show up for the tailgate before the game in the West parking lot under the trees. We'd be happy to get to know you better. But show up early this week, I think we are going to clean up a little early because we all want to see the Jason presentation before the game. We'll probably start shutting things down around 6:30 so come before then.

And thanks for such a great post. It's really good to hear that we are having a positive experience on people enjoying the game.

Post of the year award!!!

Genios, come stand with us for part of the game on Saturday until you can't stand it any more and want to go sit down again. And join our tailgate 5:00 on in the southwest corner of the west lot. And come by to visit the Loyalists booth in Carnival Real to sign up to be a member. It's only $15 and you get a free t-shirt. How sweet is that? www.theloyalists.com

Thanks for your post, and we can't wait to get to know you at the games and stuff!

GENIOS!!! I couldn't have said it better!! I don't know a thing about soccer either, but because my husband is a HUGE fan of the sport, I decided to participate in this with him. Sort of trying to get the 'feel' of the sport. Unfortunately, with 8 kiddos driving me nutz ALL FREAKIN' DAY....I sort of get side tracked and don't really remember/understand the rules of the game either. Oh well.

Nice to have you on board! Join the craziness at the next game, it's an adrenaline rush!! I'm more a football, as in Dallas Cowboys, fan myself.

Ignore the bickering that may take place. It's bound to happen between people that are as passionate about the team as these guys are.

Genios, I live about 3 miles from the E-Center but I might move to Provo (better house, cheaper payments). If I don't move to Provo I will get to some Grizzlies games. I wonder if we could get a supporters group going for the Grizz or if there's even interest in something like that. Great post by the way!
