Watson needs to be starting. I saw him play with the National Team in Dallas Cup one year. He's awesome in front of the home town crowd. We need his energy early on.

Wow.

With Nolly's height, we might actually see some headers go our way, though I'm not convinced he has the skills to play forward.

Real Salt Lake forward Clint Mathis won't be on the traveling squad for Sunday's match against FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park and according to a source had been barred from team training sessions for the past week.

General manager Steve Pastorino confirmed in a telephone conversation Friday afternoon that Mathis won't be in Dallas but wouldn't comment on why he had been disciplined by the team.

''Clint is away for personal reasons and we expect him back on Tuesday, which is when our next regular practice is scheduled,'' said Pastorino, who emphasized that up until recently Mathis' behavior and cooperation with coaches and team staff members had been ''exemplary.''

In 21 games for Real Salt Lake this season, Mathis has scored two goals and four assists. His absence against FC Dallas further depletes an attack already weakened by a season-ending knee injury suffered by Jason Kreis and the suspension of Andy Williams, who was sent off in stoppage time of Salt Lake's 1-0 loss to New England Sept. 3.

Salt Lake trails fourth-place Colorado by 12 points in the Western Conference.

Mathis, who played the full 90 minutes against New England, has reportedly been disciplined for an incident involving he and a teammate at a practice session. Pastorino would not confirm if such an incident was the reason's for Mathis' absence.

There is no reference to Mathis being suspended in the game notes disseminated by the league Friday.

Under terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and due to the fact that players' contracts are owned by the league and not the individual teams, players may not be suspended or fined by the teams.

All fines and suspensions are meted out by the league. Calls to MLS director of communications Dan Courtemanche seeking a clarification of Mathis' status were not immediately returned.

The FC Dallas-Real Salt Lake game will be televised live on ESPN2 at 2 p.m. Eastern.

"He's got some personal things that he's resolving," assistant coach Peter Mellor said.
Mellor said Mathis will rejoin the team Tuesday, a day before the RSL takes on Colorado
Well that is that then.... No Mathis

I guess I'm the only one that kind of likes this set up? I admit, I would like to have Kreis out there, but he is out so... I think it will turn out great.

Tarley is very good up front. VERY GOOD. I think that Scarlett and Gregorio on the wings make for great attacking. Scarlett has speed and Gregorio is very consistent.

I really like our back line. If we don't have any turnstile moments I think they should hold well.

Kamler/Trembly? That is what I think is the question mark. How often have they been paired up? I saw them that way at the BYU game and that doesn't help much unless we keep playing PDL teams.

I think that Tiger should be in the mix, somewhere. Tiger, Tiger, Tiger.
Watson should be in there too.

Hmmm... I'm hoping/guessing they will be the first two subs.

Okay, rambling, but I think its a decent set up for what we have to work with.

GO RSL!

You know, you can make this formation very adaptable in defense and attack, Trembly played against Dallas the time we won and did a superb job of marking a particular genus out of the game, remember?

It may not be our strongest line up but it's not a bad one, I actually think you might be a little shocked tomorrow with the organisation and effort level, the moral is very high in training here in Dallas today and hey our 'strongest' line up hasn't exactly delievered thus far now has it?

Very good points. I agree heartily.

OK, there is always someone at the practices Did anyone see Mathis get into it with anyone? Fess up.

I like Kamler being in there, but Trembly is a better sub than a starter. And I am glad that I am not the only person who thinks that Tarley is awesome. He will be one of the key players in the future of RSL.

On a side note has anyone seen ALi G's interview with Beckham? Seriously funny.
