Yeah, that doesn't sound right.
Jovan Kirovski actually playing in a game instead of sitting on the bench? C'mon Goats! Pick it up! You're about to cost us Carlos Bocanegra.

That Betty Ford Center or wherever they sent Buddle must offer some effective Rehab.
Can we send the entire RSL team & coaching staff to Suck Rehab?

From my perspective, watching that second half was very refreshing!! Decent plays, incredible hustle, and several opportunities for shots. Had Tarley had a good game, that would have been 3-2 in our favor.
Additionally, for the most part, that was one of the best officiated games I've seen this year. __________________

Yeah, the second half was really fun to watch. With two better shots (Tarley sails it over a lying down Walker, Brown? sends it just a hair too high and it comes off the crossbar) we could have been 3-2. Of course, if we had made the second half effort (thankyou HDnet announcers for saying "effort" every two seconds) happen in both halves it could have been 3-0 or something. Wow.
I really liked how Ellinger talked after halftime during an interview. Did anyone else see it? Something about effort and slacking and something to the effect of "if they want a job next year....". Apparently some people got the clue. Some of them were: Trembley, Williams, Novak, Watson, Cabrera, and Tarley. Great effort. In the first half I would give the hustle award to either Watson or Cabrera. Watson was the main person hustling in the first half, or at least his effort made others look like they weren't hustling. For the second half the whole team gets the award. Fabulous fun. My choice for MOTM is Williams. He was a great General out there, especially in the second half, and made great attacking plays. Anyhow, it was worth watching just to see the two close ones in the first half and the hustle of the second half. Good job future RSL Team.

Some player comments:
I liked Novak's play last night. Cutler still sucks. Williams played incredibly (probably my MOTM). Trembly schooled somebody really bad (not suire if it was on purpose or not). Cabrera sucked for the first ten minutes, but improved after that. Broome played his usual. Pope played well. Scarlett was also playing his usual (pretty darn good). Chris Brown got really close on that shot off the crossbar. Watson, as usual, was a huge spark of energy. Tarley didn't play his best game. Kreamelmeyer played okay, got pretty close on a shot, too. DJ played okay. And Mathis can go get traded for all I care (he sucks). We should've won. And I'd be surprised if Cornell Glen doesn't get fined and suspended for throwing punches at DJ (Mathis got five games for that, and he didn't throw one at a keeper). That ref was okay, I guess. He did let one bad call go, he let a hand ball (a very clear hand ball at that) in the box get away. We should've gotten a PK. All the fans saw it from far away, and the ref couldn't see it from two feet away. :signfreak Once again, we should've won. And guess what? Dunny said "Hi" to me. That's the second time in my life he's said hi to me. Hurrah!! :signrocko Last edited by BumpyPitchBoy : 09-25-2005 at 09:04 AM. Reason: MOTM add in

I especially agree that this was one of the best officiated games we've seen. There were some rather obvious miscalls, and they were irritating, but for the most part, it was well done. I didn't notice any blatant bias towards the other team (a major first). It's amazing that we can all watch the same game and see entirely different things. My MOTM will be either Williams, or Cabrera. I don't know what the others saw, but he was REALLY HUSTLING in the back and basically shut down his opposite number (whoever that was...he was fast). All in all, I think I'll go with Williams, he was amazing up front. __________________ 🙁 Is it gametime yet? 😉 Last edited by Jim Umber : 09-25-2005 at 08:57 AM.

Yeah, MOTM for me is probably Williams. That guy is amazing when he gets going!!! Cabrera showed some real hustle out there as well, which was impressive. And when he essentially took down two Crew forwards, one right after the other, in an effort to get the ball (which he ended up doing), I was lovin' life! However, it seemed the first half, he kept getting burned by the Crew's left wing - man that guy was fast! I guess, however, if we didn't have Cabrera out there with his speed, we would have really been toast.
While Mathis didn't play with the same intensity of Williams, he did have some really sweet passes. No one can hit a long ball like Mathis. I remember one in particular where he was parked on the west side of the 35 yard-line, and he let loose a zinger out to a streaking Scarlett who was able to snag the ball with his feet at about the 10 yard-line of Columbus' end on the East side. With the angle, that must have been 70 yard boot to the feet of a running guy. Amazing!! During the post-game it was postulated that perhaps Mathis would have been able to convert one of the many free kicks we had in the 2nd half, had he been in. However, that begs the question, "would we have had that many free kick opportunities had he been in?" Perhaps he should be a D-Mid, and let Williams be an A-Mid to control the pace of the game. That way we could still have him take the free kicks. __________________

We thought the world was ending, because an RSL outside back actually got forward on the attack.
TGF "Kung Fu" Cabrera. | |||||

I agree with both. Had the boys played in the first half anything like they did in the 2nd, I think they would've won it. It's hard to say since luck always comes into play. But again what killed them was sloppy defending. Although I still think in the end DJ should've had a save on Buddle's second goal. Edson didn't have a good angle. It was a good shot with some pace but not brialliant and it was right there. Overall not the most painful of losses even though it was at home. Good to see a couple of the kids get some laying time. Watson was very active. I wouldn't be suprised to see him and Tarley striking something up together. Tarley's gotta improve his shots. Is he still nervous? Side fo the foot and the game ends up 2-all. But he did have a few nices passes (some crappy ones, too). And he seems to be getting better at receiving the ball with his back to the goal and eitehr laying it off and finding a way to turn and take on the defender. The latter not being an easy thing to do, especially for a guy his size. __________________
