FIRST OF ALL TO HAVE A COMPETITIVE TEAM THATS GOING TO MAKE US DREAM WITH THE MLS CUP NEXT YEAR WE NEED HARD WORKERS. FIRST ON MY LIST OF OUTS WOULD BE MATHIS BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT HE ISN'T MATCH FIT AND THAT HE NEEDS TO WORK ON THAT HE'S BEEN KNOWING FROM DAY 1 BUT THE OLD MAN CAN GET IN GREAT SHAPE .THERE 'S KNOW TELLING WHAT HE CAN BRING TO THE TEAM. ANDY WILLIAMS THERE'S A REASON WHY HE'S BEEN ON 7 DIFFRENT TEAMS IN MLS BECAUSE EVERY TEAM SEE'S THE TALENT AND POTENTIAL BUT HE CAN'T PERFORM CONSISTENTLEY THE SAME THING HE'S DOING HERE IT SEEMS THAT WHEN EVER HE FEELS LIKE PLAYING RSL IS ALWAYS IN THE GAME. I THINK WE NEED ANOTHER BIG TIME GOAL SCORER TARLEY IS YOUNG AND WOULD BE GREAT OFF THE BENCH . WE ALSO NEED A CREATIVE MID AND A BULLDOG IN THE DEFENDING MID POSITION.THE MID SEASON AQUASITIONS SCARLETT CABRERA AND GREGORIO. ONLY SCARLETT AND CABRERA HAVE PROVEN TO THE COACH THAT THEY BELONG IN THE STARING 11 AND EVEN SCARLETT HAS NOT PERFORMED WELL IN THE LAST TWO GAMES . THIS GUY NEEDS TO SHOW THE FANS HE WANTS TO BE A HUGE CONTRIBUTER TO THIS TEAM HE JUST GOT HERE AND HE LOOKS LIKE HE'S GIVING UP WHEN THE TEAMS DOWN. GREGORIO HAS NOT SHOWED ANYTHING IN MY MIND. ON THE OTHER HAND CABRERA IF WE HAD 7 MORE GUYS WITH HIS ATTITUDE THIS TEAM WOULD BE VERY GOOD . EVERY ONE IS EXPECTED TO HAVE A RUFF START HERE AND THERE BUT THIS KID BOUNCES BACK RIGHT AWAY AND HE PROVED IT THE LAST GAME. WE NEED TO REMEMBER THAT HE IS A LEFT FOOTED PLAYER AND IS USE TO PLAYING ON THE LEFT OR INTHE CENTER HERE ELLINGER IS PLAYING HIM ON THE RIGHT AND HE'S BEEN SOLID. TO ME THE BEST MID SEASON PICK UP ALSO A PLAYER THAT RSL CAN BUILD AROUND IN THE DEFENSIVE AREA. EDDIE POPE IS A GREAT PLAYER BUT WE NEED TO REMEMBER HE'S NOT THE POPE FROM THE DC UNITED ERA HE'S PICKED UP ALOT OF MILES WITH THE NATIONAL TEAM AND IN MLS AND HE'S LOST A STEP OR TWO BUT NON THE LESS IS ALSO SOLID IN THE BACK I THINK POPE AND CABRERA PLAY VERY WELL TOGETHER AND MAKE A GREAT DUO IN THE BACK. RUSTY PIERCE IS TO INJURY PRONE HE DOESN'T BRING ANYTHING SPECIAL TO HIS GAME I WOULDN'T MIND LOSING HIM FOR CAP SPACE. DUNSETH WILL HAVE TO PLAY A FLANK HE'S DONE HIS JOB WHEN IN THERE WITH CABRERA AND POPE HE'LL FEEL VERY CONFORTABLE. I JUST WANT TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS NEXT SEASON MAKE A RUN FOR THE CUP. :signrocko

If you can get over the feeling of the "knife turning in your skull" by reading all caps and no punctuation, then Oliva does have some legitimate points.

Of course, I would list Scarlett and Gregorio as players that should be here next year...along with everyone's new sweetheart, Guatemalan Superman Cabrera. (its got to be the hair)

Who, by the way, is on National Team duty next week also. Guate is playing for it's world cup life against Mexico and Costa Rica. Pope, Cabrera both out for WC Qualies, Broome and Pierce out for injury. Where does that leave us for the next two matches after Colorad... Dunseth, Akwari and... god knows....

I think Williams is the only one who has put a 110% on the field. After the game he is the only one that looks like he ran his butt off and he is...
If he goes... it would be a sad day for RSL.

Andy, you know coach E doesn't want players posting here. 😉

First, please do not use all caps. That is incredibly painful to read...

I disagree here. I think that he has talent and we should keep him around. He hasn't played well all of the time which I think is partly due to some injuries and a lack of match fitness. I have really liked his ability to get the ball and move it up the field quickly with both the dribble and creative, positive passes. His crossing could improve, but I think he should be on the team.

Yes, Rusty is prone to injury. I think his game brings quite a bit of bite and is special enough to possibly keep him around. He isn't a huge asset on offense, but I think he defensive skills are great. He gives us a nice bite at the back. Based on the injury history it isn't 100% clear to me that we should keep him. If he goes it isn't because of his play it is because of his injury problems.

Okay, I have bothered to comment on others posts, but haven't posted myself. Here is my opinion if I were the guy in charge of the team based on the roster on the RSL web site. Some of my opinions are simply undecided. That would be b/c I am not really the coach and don't know the player(s) well enough or I kind of like the guy and don't want to see him go...

Akwari: Stay - b/c he seems to be getting better and has played well in the center of the defense.

Besagno: Stay - he is still VERY young and seems to be pretty good. I don't think he is the answer to our d-mid problems next year, but who really knows.

Broome: Stay - he is working out pretty well on the left. This does assume he can get healthy in the off season.

Brown: Stay - is there anywhere he can't play? He isn't stellar, but is certainly adequate all over the field.

Cabrera: Stay - he is quality. There is no denying that. We need to figure out where he is going to play and put him there consistently.

Cila: Go - this is hard b/c I think Jordan is a good guy. He has been given his chance to contribute and has contribued from time to time. I just don't think he is consistent enough to keep around.

Countess: Stay - he has had his troubles this year and I haven't always been a big DJ fan. He is a quality keeper though and should only get better.

Cutler: Stay - I know that a lot of people don't particularly like Kenny. I think that he does the job that is asked of him quite well. I think he has gotten better and should be given a chance to develop.

Dunseth: Undecided - There have been times that I was completely amazed with the way Dunny dominated the air game. He is just a bit more of a liability that I would like in the back. If we can find someone better then we can say goodbye to Dunny. If not he isn't bad to have around.

Tiger: Undecided - I don't think he has had a fair shake with the first team. I don't know how he has been playing with the reserves. He certainly has some skills, but where does he fit into the team?

Flores: Stay - Why not? He is a local guy and is in the process of switching to the front from the back. Why not see how that transition works?

Gregario: Stay - I think that Gregario has talent and should be given a few more opportunities to show that talent on the field.

Knowles: Stay - He showed flashes of good play for the first team. Wait and see how he develops.

Kreamalmeyer: Stay - Again, young...see how it goes next season.

Kreis: Stay - Can anyone argue?

Lookingland:No idea

Mathis: Go - He has been a great player, but it just seems like things haven't worked out recently. Can we shake hands and say our goodbyes before it gets too ugly?

Nolly: Stay - I think he and DJ will compete for the starting job next season. He has a bit of experience and shows talent. Hang on to him.

Novak: No idea

Pierce: Undecided - A healthy Rusty is one of my favorite players to watch. I love the intensity in the back. It just seems that he can't get those hamstrings healed up properly. It may be a decision between Rusty and the medical staff. Can he actually play a full season anymore?

Pope: Stay - Sure he has lost a step or two. He still brings a lot of experience and leadership to the back. We have a very young team and I think they need the skills that Eddie brings to the table.

Scarlet: Stay - I think he is worth the gamble. He needs to learn how to harness the energy and skill a bit better. He has serious potential though.

Tarley: Stay - He is the best target type forward we have been able to find. We may be able to find another target forward, but I think we still keep Tarley around to see how he adjusts to MLS.

Trembley: Go - I am not quite sure why I feel this way. Seth does add a spark of sorts when he is on the field. I just don't really like his reckless style of play much.

Washington: Go - It was an interesting gamble. It didn't work out. Sorry Dante.

Watson: Stay - Jamie has the raw skill. I think he will be great when he starts to get everything refined.

Williams: Stay - He hasn't always been as consistent as I would like, but behind Jason I would argue that he has been the best player up front over the season. He can do amazing things with the ball and rarely loses it in bad spots. His defensive intensity needs to be better consistently, but it is there.

Stats say:
Stay: 18
Go:4
Undecided: 3
No Idea: 2

That was an interesting experience. It was much harder than I thought to even consider getting rid of guys. I really have to compliment the players on being (at least seeming like) nice guys. It is hard to tell someone they are not wanted when they have been so nice...
