We can't get a break, can we? It's the end of the season, can't the soccer gods be a little nicer to us? Damn them.

OMG--who pissed off the soccer gods when it comes to RSL. You guys have not gotten a break (pardon the pun) all year long. The guys have to feel snake bitten.

Snakebit, yes......but it's to be expected. Remember, RSL is a team made up of players noone else wants. Why would New England unprotect a hard-nosed defender like Rusty Pierce? Because he's always hurt. Why would LA trade a starter like Paul Broome for nothing but a draft pick? Because he's always hurt. There are three kinds of players on expansion teams:
1. Guys who are just coming into the league. 2. Mediocre players who can't cut it on other teams. 3. Veterans who are over the hill/past their prime/always hurt As more time goes by the 'talent balance' in MLS will return. RSL will improve every year until the league reaches equilibrium.

This isn't always true.
Mark Chung, Mike Petke, Kelly Grey, Richard Mulrooney have all made significant contributions to their new clubs after being traded.

Obviously there are players who make good after a trade.....my post was about INJURED players. Mark Chung is obviously contributing in San Jose - he's missed 7 games due to injury in 9 years. Petke has missed 9 games in 8 seasons. Kelly Gray 0 games in 4 years. Mulrooney 9 games in 4 seasons. These aren't what I'd call injury-prone players. Contrast that to Rusty Pierce who by my count has missed over 40 games in 6 years. Lots of good trades happen......they just don't happen to RSL yet because we don't have much to offer in return. Until we do we can expect to get unwanted players - either guys who lack talent or guys who have talent but can't use it due to injury. My point is nobody should be shocked we've had injury issues this year.

Sorry thing is that RSL really doesn't have the 2006 draft picks to play around with either.
Silver lining? -High draft pick (#2 or #3) in first round of 2006 -Missing the Playoffs will allow RSL's first, "You Suck" allocation. Brilliant.
