As for moving the team to Utah, I'm not sure if Salt Lake is the right market for the NHL but I don't think it can be dismissed outright.

Alternative, Punk, Swing.........whatever.
I would LOVE to see more competition against Larry Miller. I'm not a fan of his. But an NHL team.....here....in Salt Lake City?........ahh, a girl can only dream. Although I can't imagine the money I would spend. I already take a couple of road trips to see my avs every season. geez.

Not to put a damper on the NHL hopes of Utahns everywhere, but according to the article Checketts also bought the Blues lease at their arena from the previous owners. Its a long term lease. Seems to me that Checketts would lose a lot of money if he broke the lease let alone if the NHL would even let him.

But who knows, if Checketts has really purchased the Blues; money talks and who knows what the future holds.

On a side note, whats the capacity of the E-Center where the Grizzlies play?

I believe the E-center holds approximately 10,200

Ouch, too small.
Can you play hockey in the Delta Center?

Actually, the Grizzlies played in the Delta Center until the E-Center was built. I didn't care much for the Delta Center, horrible for hockey. The E-center is smaller, however, every seat is a good one. It's a great venue for hockey.

Maybe for the Grizzlies (AHL, ECHL) but not for NHL.
The smallest venue for NHL is about 17,000. 10,000 is just too small for NHL.

Its like playing an MLS game in a PDL field (or maybe playing a CRapids game at a NFL Broncos stadium).

Yeah I know that the E-Center size isn't compatible with the NHL. I was just stating a personal preference. I just didn't like the Delta Center. (plus I hate giving any money to Larry Miller) Anyhoo, I doubt we'll have to worry about a venue for an NHL team. It would be lovely, but eh.

cool! Next thing you know, we will have our very own NFL team too! 'Course, they'll never be as good as the Dallas Cowboys :nana:

Ha... we will never get an NFL team... If we did that then the people in Denver would want one.

What league do the Cowboys play in? is that USFL or something? 😉

You're right. They will never be that good. They would have to suck pretty bad to be as good as the Cowboys. They would end up being much better, so that is a good thing.
